I received a copy of this game to facilitate this review. All opinions are my own.
Being active is a big part of our lives- from the kids playing soccer to walking laps at the park, my whole family feels better when we can get moving.
The problem? We live somewhere that is over 100 degrees {and often over 110!} for 3-4 months out of the year, which makes it really hard to get outside. We are always looking for fun ways to keep cool while staying active and one of our favorite ways is by using Nintendo Switch games- check out some of our favorite fitness games here!

Well this summer there’s a brand new addition to that list and it’s something our entire family loves- grandparents included! Check out why we love Nintendo Switch Sports.
About the game:
In Nintendo Switch Sports, you can swing, kick, spike and bowl your way to victory! With multiple options for multiplayer fun, family and friends can join in on the same system* or online.** Play online and face opponents near and far, and aim for the Pro League in every sport. With Soccer, Volleyball, Bowling, Tennis, Badminton and Chambara (swordplay), you can get moving and put yourself directly in the game using Joy-Con controllers. Plus, a seventh sport is planned to be added via a free update this fall; get ready to Golf!***
We recently took turns trying out the game, and here’s what everyone had to say about it:

Zac’s Thoughts {8 years old}
Zac thinks the game is really fun, and loves that you have to move your whole body to play. His favorite sport to play on Nintendo Switch Sports is bowling but he also likes getting to play soccer too!
My thoughts on gameplay for an eight year old:
This game is such a great way to get those wiggles out all summer long. Even if the weather is nice enough to get outside near you, having an indoor option is awesome and also helps fill some gaps between seasons if your kids play any of these sports. Zac played soccer in the spring and while we aren’t sure if he’ll be continuing in the fall, this game lets him keep some of those skills sharp!

Shane’s Thoughts {12 years old}
Shane’s favorite games to play were tennis and sword fighting, which he completely annihilated us all on. He liked that there were different sports to choose from and it reminded him a lot of Wii Sports, which he grew up playing.
My thoughts on gameplay for a 12 year old:
Shane’s at an age where it’s hard to find things for us to do together, so this game was huge for us. Bowling with the grandparents or sword fighting with dad brought out his competitive streak and allowed us to hang out in a way that was fun for everyone!
My Thoughts {Mom}
This game is so much fun and is easy to play right away. Each sport that you play has a detailed tutorial with just the right amount of instruction, so even if you’re new to a sport it’s easy to follow along.
One of my favorite things about the game is how it can bring families together. We have been enjoying fun family activities together this summer, but on days where we’re just hanging out around the house it’s nice to still have a fun way to spend time together.

Another bonus is that this is a game that even my parents can enjoy with us- and they’ve never played video games! The kids are always trying to get Grandpa to play their video games with them but he has no idea how to play games so he’s always hesitated. But when he learned that this game had bowling he had to try it- he’s been on a bowling league for over a decade!
It took a slight learning curve for him to be able to use the remote, but that was a user thing not a game thing. And to be totally honest, that just added to the fun. My dad said it himself- he hadn’t laughed that hard in years! And for the record, once he figured it out he did great- but I still beat him! Okay, only once. But still!

If you’re looking for a great way to beat the heat while still staying active this summer, be sure to check out Nintendo Switch Sports, available now in stores or online here at {affiliate link} Amazon. You can also download a digital copy from the Nintendo eShop!
Important Note: A big update came out for the game on July 26th! Make sure to update your game if you already have it, or install the update before playing for the first time! Read more about all the new features here.
