The last few years, we’ve introduced a few fun ways to celebrate the new year with our kiddos. I grew up with a tradition of having a cupcake on New Year’s Eve, so we’ve done that since the beginning with the kids as well. But we’ve added a few other celebrations, too.
I’m not cool enough to let them stay up until midnight {at least until they’re a little older} but we’ve tried some other fun things!
Netflix has a variety of New Year’s Eve countdowns starring some of the stars of their kids’ shows. We usually watch a whole bunch of them before their bed time! It may be a little early, but at least this way they get to have the fun of counting down more than once- and they aren’t exhausted, either!
We also always have fun hats and party blowers, which drives our dog nuts but the kids really love.
Last year, we added confetti poppers to the celebration- and we had no idea just how MUCH confetti would pop out of those! It was a nightmare to clean up but the kids LOVED it.
If you’re looking for something else to really make your New Year’s Eve with kids special, try this kid-friendly Mock “Champagne”! You can even garnish it with Gummy Bears to make the kids really feel fancy.

It’s such a simple recipe but the kids love it- and it’s nice to finally have something easy to do after all the holiday chaos, am I right?
