Between school events, work schedules, and after-school activities, this time of year the calendar is always packed with things to do. Whether I’m volunteering for the school carnival or taking the kids to martial arts, I don’t always have time to cook a full meal from scratch. That said, we always make it a point to eat dinner together every night as a family- no matter what- so I love ingredients that cut down on the time I need to spend making dinner.
One of my absolute favorite go-tos for quick dinner ideas is pasta- I always have a few boxes of Barilla pasta in my pantry. There are just so many different things you can do with pasta! The only problem is that on those nights when I really only have a few minutes to make dinner between activities, I don’t have time to wait for water to boil or for the pasta to cook- though it’s a simple dish, it still takes upwards of 25-30 minutes from when I start the pot of water on the stovetop. So I was SO excited to hear about Barilla Ready pasta, which takes just sixty seconds!
Made with just pasta, sea salt, and olive oil, Barilla Ready Pasta is the perfect dinner for weeknights. You can use it as a quick side dish or as a main entrée- each bag is two servings, so even feeding a family of four like mine is quick. There are lots of different things you can do with it, especially if you couple it with some of the pre-cut Marketside veggies from Walmart, but I went SUPER simple recently on our Spring Break trip and made a delicious Chicken Pesto Rotini!
Chicken Pesto Rotini
Ingredients:
Barilla Ready pasta- Rotini {2 bags}
Barilla Basil Pesto Sauce {about 4 TBSP}
Rotisserie Chicken, shredded {I used the breast}
Directions:
Heat Barilla Ready pasta in the microwave for sixty seconds per bag. Pour into a mixing bowl.
Add the Barilla Basil Pesto Sauce and the shredded chicken.
Mix well, making sure to evenly coat the pasta and chicken with the sauce.
Enjoy!
As you can see, this dinner takes just a few minutes to prepare- and in addition to saving time, it saves money, too! These ingredients are all really affordably priced at Walmart!
You can find Barilla Ready pasta in stores NOW in your local Walmart’s pasta aisle! It is currently available in Gemelli, Penne, Elbows, and of course Rotini.
