It has been a crazy month around here! We have done a lot of traveling and we had to deal with a flooded garage that caused us to have a wall knocked down and rebuilt. My house- and schedule- is finally back to normal, but all the chaos of the last month is being reflected in my house!
Starting this weekend, I am getting my Spring Cleaning on. I have my free printable Spring Cleaning Checklist in hand and I’m tackling one job after another until it’s done. Of course, I may take a shortcut here and there! Below are my favorite Spring Cleaning Shortcuts!
7 Simple Spring Cleaning Hacks
Keep your baseboards dust-free
Use fabric softener sheets on your baseboards- they’ll help dust and clean them now as well as provide a layer to prevent dust build-up from coming back!
Keep supplies on hand
If your kids get water spots on the bathroom mirror often, keep a roll of paper towels and a bottle of glass cleaner under the bathroom sink {or somewhere safely locked up but nearby if you have young children} for quick touch-ups. You’ll be more likely to use them if they are easy to get to!
Refresh Your Home’s Scent
Company coming with just a few minute’s notice? Use Febreze to make your home smell fresh again.
Keep Bugs Away from Plants
You can keep bugs at bay by mixing a few drops of Original Dawn dish soap into a spray bottle full of water- just mist it onto your plants and it will repel them!
Loosen stuck-on food in the microwave
Make cleaning your microwave easier by heating a bowl of water for 60 seconds first. It’ll begin steam-cleaning and make it easier to wipe down baked-on food.
Prevent mold and mildew
Have mold or mildew issues in your shower? Keep the edges of your tub cleaner by getting a hanging organizer for the shower so that mildew and mold can’t grow under product bottles.
Organize your overflow
Round up all your overflow- extra bottles of shampoo, conditioner, etc.- and store them in one easy to reach place. I keep mine in an old diaper box under the bathroom sink- it doesn’t have to be expensive or pretty because no one sees it!
I hope these tips help you while you’re doing your Spring Cleaning this year! While these tips are meant to help you clean your house no matter how messy it is, I hope it helps prevent some of those messes from coming back too so you can have more time for the things you really enjoy!
