If you’ve ever been to Vegas, you’ve likely been to the Las Vegas Strip. That’s where most of the tourist stuff occurs- shows, dining, shopping, etc. As a local who grew up here, I just about never venture down that way unless family is in town, but lately I’ve been wanting to start checking out some of what’s available. Justin & I were recently treated to a night at the NEW Tropicana Hotel and it was a nice staycation!
The Tropicana Hotel & Casino has been a major part of the Las Vegas Strip since 1957. As new properties pop up left & right, the Tropicana seemed to have been left back in history a bit. That is, until DoubleTree by Hilton came in &redid the whole place!
Now, I had never stayed at the Tropicana before the renovation, but I’d been inside the property plenty of times & even just from the registration counter, you could tell how much more modern the property had become. Our room didn’t look like something from the 50’s, or even 70’s- it was a beautiful South Beach themed room with a 42” LCD TV.
{Pardon the lighting, it was already dark by the time we got there. Curse you, Daylight Saving Time!}
We stayed in a Club Deluxe Room with a King Bed in the Club Tower, which is the tower located next to the Conference Center {and spa!}. It was a bit of a walk to get to our room from the {FREE} parking garage, but if you’re there for a convention the Club Tower is a great choice- and even if you’re not, the walk isn’t that far.
The bathroom was very modern & while small, I liked the fixtures a lot. {These are the things that matter to me in hotels.}
There is a very generous workspace in the room, which is perfect for anyone traveling for business. I’ve gone on a few business trips & hate it when the workspace is either too small or conveniently shaped so I love the long, spacious desk available here!
There’s a cute little sitting area so you can easily entertain guests in your room or just lounge around on your down time!
Our room had a great view, too- in the morning I woke up & peeked through our shutters to find The Strip right there! The Tropicana is located directly on The Strip, so if you’re looking to get in on the action it’s a great choice.
The New Tropicana has a lot of entertainment right within its walls. While it’s on the Las Vegas Strip & just steps away from an abundance of entertainment options, there’s plenty to do without leaving the property. Most of the main floor is a casino, and then there’s The Laugh Factory, which features new comedians all the time. {Gallagher was the main act while we were there.} If it wasn’t November when we stayed, I would have been all about the pool, which looked very inviting despite the cool temperatures- and right at the bottom of my elevator was the Glow Spa, which was definitely calling my name. Next time we’ll have to check in earlier so we can stop in at the spa for a visit!
Of course, one of the most important parts of a hotel {to me, at least} is the food! The New Tropicana has several dining options, including Bacio Italian Cuisine, which smelled amazing every time we walked by, Biscayne, a top-rated Las Vegas steakhouse, and Beach Café for more casual dining. There’s also the South Beach Food Court, featuring a Starbucks and a little café that serves pizza, sandwiches and salads. {This is also where you can redeem your voucher for your free famous Doubletree cookies!} &Of course, there’s always in-room dining!
