We have major issues with the water in our house- not in it’s drinkability, but in the damage it does to our home. Calcium & lime build up on everything, and I’ve tried many things to try to get rid of it. It’s particularly bad around our faucets, and I’ve spent a ridiculously long time with every tool I can think of trying to scrape off tiny pieces of the gross coating that surrounds everything.
Recently, I was sent CLR Bath & Kitchen Cleaner & asked to put it to the test on my messiest spots. Since it says it cleans & shines porcelain, I thought I’d put it to the test on the kitchen sink. Since it’s meant to tackle things that are hard to get rid of- calcium, lime, hard water stains and soap scum-I expected there to be some elaborate instructions. However, using it was crazy easy- you just spray the surface that you’re cleaning, let it sit for a couple of minutes, and then wipe with a damp cloth. Then you just rinse thoroughly and you’re done!
Check out the results for yourself:
Definitely a huge improvement, and I didn’t even have to pick at it with a chisel! All I had to do was wipe it away & it was clean.
While the cleaner is fast acting & powerful, and cleans quickly and effectively, it’s still gentle enough to have the EPA’s “DfE” designation, which means Design for the Environment- in other words, it’s safer chemistry is not harmful to the people in your home. You can clean without worry- in fact, I tend to avoid harsh cleansers due to my asthma but had no symptoms at all while using this.
You can find CLR Bath & Kitchen in the cleaning aisle of your local mass retailer. Don’t forget to follow them on Twitter for more info!

We have hard water too and I hate all the work it takes getting it off. I’ll have to try this.

I wish I would have tried that when I lived in Phoenix! The water there is very hard, and all my dishes were spotty, the build up was horrible and it destroyed several coffee makers!

Hard water is a nightmare here in Las Vegas indeed. I have been on the hunt for something to properly clean my glass shower doors, so I may have to check this out.
