We are a month into the virtual school year now and while it’s taken some adjusting, I think we pretty much have it figured out. There are definitely lots of things that are different about this school year, but so far a lot of those differences have actually been positive!
One of the biggest ones? Zac gets several “brain breaks” throughout the day. He logs in for virtual instruction throughout the day, but only for a little while at a time. Then he gets time to work on classwork- but since he’s in 1st grade, that time is always used as a chance to get some wiggles out and focus on something else for a little bit, that way when class is back in session he can focus.
We recently received the Geomag World Classic Collection to check out and it’s been great for keeping his mind active during breaks between classes- and after school, too!

What Are Geomags?
Geomags are really fun magnetic rods and shapes that let your kids build whatever they can imagine. There are SO many different sets to work with so you can get something your kids connect with, like the Rainbow set, Glitter set, Glow set, and more. But no matter what your Geomags look like, they’re awesome for building all kinds of things using magnets!

Who are Geomags good for?
Geomags are great for any kid {ages 3+} that likes to build and use their imagination. Even if your child hasn’t been a big fan of building in the past, that might change with Geomags! They work differently than other building toys as they are magnetic, and there are so many ways to play!
Shane {11} and Zac {6} are BOTH big fans of Geomags. We first discovered them at our dentist’s office and it was SO hard to get them to leave the toys alone and go in for their appointment- in fact, they wanted to stay afterwards and play with them in the waiting room!

What did we think?
The Kids
Zac {6} Zac really enjoys coming up with new ways to build with them! While he likes making 3D designs, he actually has more fun using them to make flat designs and shapes. He gets really creative and uses his imagination to turn his creations into all kinds of things!
Shane {11} thinks the Geomags are super cool and he enjoys just building random things- or even just fidgeting with them and attaching random pieces together. He’s starting not into toys much these days, but these hold his attention.
Mom’s Thoughts
I love Geomags and how open-ended they are. Watching the kids play with them is like getting a peek into how their minds work. They can play with them for such a long time, even without instruction or guidance. They just keep creating new things to play with!
Geomags help kids work on fine motor skills, especially with the little magnetic balls. It also encourages creative learning and is a great STEM activity for kids to get engaged with.
I also love that it’s super easy to break down their creations when the time comes so we can put it away nicely- they fit right back into the box with no issues so storage is a breeze.
