As a 90’s kid, I grew up during the Disney Renaissance and one of the most defining movies of that era was Aladdin. It hit theaters when I was four and very quickly became one of my favorite Disney movies of all time. Every song is still on constant replay at our house {Zac can identify “A Whole New World” by the very first note} and all of my old Aladdin figures are still getting played with on a regular basis by my kiddos.
Well Aladdin is back and is about to reach a whole new group of kids {even the ones whose parents don’t still constantly watch the movie} and also help those of us who grew up with the original relive our childhoods. The live action adaptation of Disney’s Aladdin is coming in May and the first TV spot finally hit tonight! Check it out:
There is so much to unpack here: The Cave of Wonders! That chilling rendition of “Arabian Nights”! Adorable Abu and dare I say, smokin’ hot Jafar?? The Prince Ali scene! Genie!!

The biggest challenge to this movie is probably the need to replace Robin Williams- who, to be honest, really just can’t be replaced. But this trailer brought along a glimpse of Will Smith in the role and I have to say, I’m optimistic! Now can we have a sneak peek at Rajah?!?

About the movie:
A thrilling and vibrant live-action adaptation of Disney’s animated classic, “Aladdin” is the exciting tale of the charming street rat Aladdin, the courageous and self-determined Princess Jasmine and the Genie who may be the key to their future. Directed by Guy Ritchie, who brings his singular flair for fast-paced, visceral action to the fictitious port city of Agrabah, “Aladdin” is written by John August and Ritchie based on Disney’s “Aladdin.” The film stars Will Smith as the Genie; Mena Massoud as Aladdin; Naomi Scott as Jasmine; Marwan Kenzari as Jafar; Navid Negahban as the Sultan; Nasim Pedrad as Dalia; Billy Magnussen as Prince Anders; and Numan Acar as Hakim.
