I can’t believe it’s already November! This year is quickly winding down and it’s causing me to reflect on the last eleven months. One thing that we’ve really enjoyed this year was getting more active and playing more as a family. Having a baby can make it hard to get out and explore sometimes, but since Zac turned 2 in January (making him way more active) we were able to spend this whole year making all kinds of memories doing our favorite thing of all – playing!
Winter: We started out the year with a trip to Colorado. Shane went to a ski school the first day we were there and then went skiing with Justin a few days, too! Even I got in on it and took a ski lesson – though I think I actually prefer building snowmen and making snow angels.
Spring: When springtime came around, we took advantage of the weather and spent a lot of time in our backyard! We played games with Hula Hoops, installed a tetherball in our backyard {Shane’s favorite game to play at school} and spent a lot of time enjoying the sunshine.
Summer: During the summer, we got wet and messy a lot. We went swimming every chance we got, and when we were stuck at home we made a big mess! We had a silly string fight in the backyard, played Shaving Cream Twister and surprised the kids with a water balloon fight. While it can often be too hot to play outside here in the summer, we made sure to find ways to enjoy the fresh air whenever it was cool enough.
Fall: Now that fall is finally here, we’re enjoying getting back outside after the long, hot summer. Last month we did a Nature Scavenger Hunt and we just got back from a trip to visit our family in Wisconsin, where we jumped in lots of leaves!
Every season that comes along brings with it so many chances to play together. My kids have had so many smiles and we’ve shared so many laughs from finding new ways to play this year. I’m so thankful that we have been able to do that and I hope to have another year full of fun playtimes.
