One of the hardest parts of our transition into back to school this year has been Zac feeling left behind. Now that he’s a little older, he’s aware that brother is no longer home with us all day and he even knows what school is- and he wants to go, too! Unfortunately for Zac, he’s still a bit too young- but we’re staying busy while Shane’s at school and learning at the same time with LeapStart!
LeapStart is a new, interactive system from LeapFrog that’s perfect for kids ages 2-7 {Preschool through 1st Grade}. The system is a large, portable and kid-friendly device that includes an easy grip stylus, sampler book, and downloadable Guide to Getting Kids Ready to School. There’s a large variety of activity books available for all different ages and with different topics for each one! One of Zac’s favorite books is designed for preschoolers and deals with daily routines, while Shane is a fan of the 1st grade level Space Science book. Each book has two different levels within it so that it can grow with your child as well!
To use the system, you just insert the book of your choice. Once you’ve added the audio for the book to your system {easily done by connecting to your computer via the included USB cord}, the system will recognize your book and allow you to play! You and your kids can use the stylus to learn, explore, and play games.
We love these books because they are reusable- we love typical activity books but you can only use them once because they get marked on. These are interactive as well- you can actually hear sound effects like animal sounds or even hear your favorite LeapFrog characters talking to you! They also come in so many subjects that there’s bound to be something your child is interested in. We’ve been loving the Daily Routines book because it’s encouraging Zac to continue working on potty training as well as giving him a preview of what preschool will be like when he does get to go!
I also love that the books are geared perfectly toward the ages that they recommend. The tasks and games for each book are challenging enough to be fun and educational, but easy enough that they aren’t frustrating. The illustrations change based on age, too- preschool books have cute characters and simple pages and as the books progress in level, they become more complicated and have a lot more details to explore!
Zac loves the LeapStart learning system and we can’t wait to add more books to our library! If you have a little one at home who would love LeapStart, you can find it on Amazon or LeapFrog.com! {Don’t forget the books! Find Daily Routines {Level 1} and Space Science {Level 4} and a wide variety of books on Amazon or LeapFrog.com.}
