With the longer days upon us and spring break just a week away, we’ve been spending a lot of time outside. It’s been a long, cold winter, so we’re all bursting to go outside and play! We are enjoying the calm spring weather, but we’re already getting anxious for summertime. Between the swimming pool, the late nights at the park, and (of course) the ice cream, we just can’t wait for summer break!
Recently, I received two of the toys from the Fisher-Price Wooden Toys line. They brought me back to my own childhood immediately, and I couldn’t wait to share them with my boys! They both reminded me of summer days spent enjoying ice cream cones at the beach, and so I had an idea- I’d give Zachary a summer-themed Easter basket!
The other day while at Target, and with Easter on my mind, I found some items that would be perfect for a summer themed Easter basket and I just couldn’t help myself! If you just can’t wait for summer, read on for my Easter Basket suggestions!
It all started with the products from the new and adorable Fisher-Price Wooden Toys line that I was sent; the Sweet Sounds Ice Cream Truck and Shape-imals Crab, specifically. Both toys are great for babies, toddlers, and even preschoolers, so they were perfect for Zachary. They are really well-made and just downright cute! They encourage creative play and fine motor skills, and don’t require any batteries or plugs. (Ice Cream Truck, on sale for $15.00; Crab, on sale for $4.80)
At Target, I found an adorable ice cream cone-shaped lip gloss set in the party favors section, which went along with the ice cream theme. Since Zac is always trying to take my lip gloss (and we all get super dry lips in the summer), I picked one up! (Lip Gloss, $5.00 for 12)
Rounding out the ice cream theme was an adorable sippy cup made to resemble a sundae. It’ll be perfect for ice cream floats in the summer, too!
To make our outdoor play more fun, I grabbed some of the most essential outdoor items for toddlers: bubbles and chalk! Target had a huge selection of both but I found an inexpensive set of chalk in the party aisle and some little bubble wands in the outdoor toy aisle. (Spritz, 15 ct. chalk, $2.00; Bubbles, available in stores)
Finally, I topped off the basket with a few Easter eggs filled with putty– perfect for using on the patio table (where there aren’t any tablecloths or carpets to destroy)!
If you’ve been spending a lot of time outside, or are hoping to as the weather heats up, you can find the perfect additions to a spring- or summer-themed Easter basket at Target! The Fisher-Price Wooden Toys are a must have for any basket– while we are a tech-friendly household, I just love the simplicity of unplugging for a bit and playing with actual toys. The toys that I picked for Zac’s Easter Basket (and gave to him early, because I was too excited to wait) have kept his attention and can hold their own against Zac’s rough-and-tumble nature. Oh, and the Ice Cream Truck has a little ringing bell which is pretty much the cutest thing ever.
