Spending time together as a family is important in our house. Whether that means a family BBQ and a dip in the pool in the summer or a night cuddled up watching movies and playing games, we make an effort to spend time together. Not only do we do family things as a unit with Justin, the kids, and I, but we often visit both sets of grandparents!
One of our favorite ways to spend time together year-round has to be playing games. Now that Shane is old enough to play along with the rest of us {and Zac can happily sit in his chair and pretend to play}, we have been having fun trying new games. Some of them are old favorites from our own childhoods, but many of them are new to us, like Shane’s favorite- Hedbanz!
Hedbanz is a really fun game where you put a headband on your head {don’t worry- everyone looks silly!} and draw a card and place it on your headband facing out so everyone except for you can see it. When it’s your turn, you flip the hourglass and ask the other players yes or no questions about your card to help you guess what it is. If you guess before time’s up, you pull a new card and continue, but if you run out of time you have to wait until your next turn to keep guessing. The first player to guess three cards wins!
The game is hilarious and it’s fun for kids as well as adults. It’s very family-friendly but isn’t boring, and is definitely very silly. We play it often at family game nights, both with just our little family and even with Grandma & Grandpa! In fact, we even have the game at each house because we love playing it so much!
We recently had our own mini family game night to cut loose a little after a long week of work, school, and holiday craziness. We had so much fun and so many giggles! Zac wanted to play really bad even though he can’t even talk yet, so he sat with us and copied whenever we said “yes” or “no”. We all had a lot of fun and have plans to play again this weekend!
Spin Master, the maker of Hedbanz, has a lot of other really great games as well, like Would You Rather and Quelf. We haven’t played them, but Would You Rather is going under our tree this year! Quelf is for kids 12 & over so we aren’t quite there yet, but if you have kids around that age it looks hilarious!
If you know someone who would love to play Hedbanz {or one of the other great Spin Master games}, you can find it at Amazon.com, Walmart, Kmart, Target, or Toys R’ Us.
What’s your favorite way to spend time with your family?
How have I never heard of this game? It sounds like so much fun. I have to get it to play with my kids on our family game night.
Hedbandz is such a cute game! I’m going to have to see if I can get my daughter to play this with me!
We recently got this game too. The boys love it! Game nights are always a blast. 🙂
We got the same game a few weeks ago and my kids had a blast with it. I think we’ll bring it out again Christmas Eve for some family fun.
This looks like a great family game to play. Our kids enjoy board games.
This is a favorite family game at our house. We actually have 2 versions of it! My kids have it at school and play during indoor recess on yucky days!
I’ve seen this in the stores, but never played. It looks like so much fun!
That would be such a blast to play! I would love a good guessing game like that!
This looks like its a lot fun! I always buy a few games for Christmas eve and this one sounds perfect!
This is a game I’ve been looking at for the kids, it looks like a fun one. We definitely love to play games and watch movies as a family.
