We love Disneyland, and since we live just a four hour drive away, we are lucky enough to be able to go around once a year. We ride the rides, spend way too much on toys, and of course, indulge in the delicious food! We’re very lucky in that our kids don’t have any food allergies, but the last time I was there I noticed that Disneyland really has their food allergy awareness down!
When visiting the park, these allergy friendly foods in Disneyland will keep you and your family safe. With so many allergy issues in kids, Disneyland has stepped up to the plate and adapted many of their menus. Not only will employees ask you about allergies if you ask for a substitute item, but you’ll find alerts and substitutes listed on menus throughout the park! That said, if you have a child with food allergies, you don’t want to waste time you could be spending on rides trying to find a safe place for your child to eat- so here’s a quick cheat sheet!
Allergy Friendly Foods In Disneyland
While Disneyland does not usually allow food to be brought into the park, they do make an exception for those with food allergies or intolerance. While you will find some items in the park that will suit your needs, if you prefer to pack a few items just in case, just let the security person who checks you in know you have someone in your party with a food allergy and thus you have packed snacks.
Tomorrowland Terrace: This is a great general concession area that offers a lot of food options. You can simply let the cashier know that you have a food allergy and what it is. They will provide you with options that will be safe for your needs.
Rancho del Zocalo: This delicious Mexican restaurant in Frontierland offers a wide menu with many options. With corn and flour tortillas available, they are often a favorite for those with gluten allergies. They also offer not just the seasoned rice that is popular, but plain rice, fresh vegetables and unsweetened applesauce that can fill in gaps in your menu.
Village Haus Restaurant: This great place in the corner of Fantasyland has mostly burgers and sandwiches, but also offers some great options in salads and sides. Just ask your cashier for an allergy friendly option and they will help navigate the menu to suit your needs.
Plaza Inn: This is a favorite for many families, with character breakfasts and a delicious breakfast buffet. They also host a wonderful chicken dinner each evening that is really popular with park attendees! While they don’t have an extensive menu for those with allergies, they do offer some great gluten free, dairy free and nut free items on their menu that will satisfy almost anyone in your party.
Healthy snack carts: Throughout the park you will find food carts that include some great healthy options like fresh pineapple, watermelon, and mango. You’ll also find things like pretzels, hummus, and juice at these carts. This is often the safest and best place for you to find a snack for your family that won’t cause issues. {As an added bonus, these snacks are very portable- so you can multi-task and eat them while in line for your next ride!}
When looking for allergy friendly foods in Disneyland, all you really have to do is ask the cast member who takes your meal reservation in park or by telephone. Not only can you tell them of specific allergy issues so they can prepare your food safely, they may be able to help you understand the menu to determine if their restaurant is best for you.
These great allergy friendly food options in Disneyland will help you and your family to enjoy the park without fear of getting sick. Don’t forget you can also get your hand stamped and head out of the park to one of the many restaurants in Downtown Disney to find even more allergy friendly meal options!
