We received the ornament mentioned to facilitate this review. All opinions are my own.
Every year since I can remember, it’s been a family tradition to get a new Christmas ornament. Each December we would choose our favorite new Hallmark Keepsake ornament- I was partial to the Puppy Love series, but got some little mice a few times, too. It was always a special day that I looked forward to almost as much as Christmas itself!
Some of Justin’s childhood ornaments
While I was growing up and partaking in this tradition every year, my husband was growing up across the country. However, we shared the same tradition! Not only did his family get him an ornament every year as well, but his grandparents bought an ornament for him for their own tree each year. Many of those ornaments alluded to hobbies he’d picked up or adventures he’d had {like going fishing, discovering video games, or taking up computer coding} and some were just adorable {like the one from his first Christmas- a little wooden plane with a little wooden propeller}. Then when he moved out of his parents’ house and in with me, they boxed them all up and shipped them over- and now every year as we hang them on our tree, we enjoy the timeline of the first 20 years of his life, as told through Hallmark ornaments!
Our 2013 Hallmark Keepsake Ornaments
Now that we’re the parents, we have continued the tradition of choosing an ornament every year. I still tend to stick to my Puppy Love series, but Shane has had some memorable ones, like when he chose Rudolph last year after spending two months practicing the song for his recital in preschool.
This year, in addition to our own choices, Hallmark sent an ornament for all of us to enjoy! This Happiness Makes Magic Keepsake Ornament is beyond magical- not only does it play a beautiful song for thirty seconds, but it displays a beautiful light show as well! You can see a sample of it in the Instagram video below:
It’s so beautiful and displays the most brilliant shades of blue. The music reminds us of something from our childhoods {though we can’t seem to peg exactly what} and it has entertained both of the boys for hours. We’ve had it for a few weeks now and I still catch Shane pressing the button multiple times a day! It really is mesmerizing to watch.
In addition to all of the great Keepsake Ornaments available this season, this Happiness Makes Magic Keepsake Ornament is available at your local Hallmark store or at Hallmark.com for the MSRP of $29.95. Even if you just buy it now and store it for next year’s tree, it’s so worth picking up! Aside from our “Baby’s First Christmas” ornaments, I’m pretty sure this one has become everyone’s new favorite ornament. You can visit Hallmark’s website to see the full preview!
