When I was seven, my mom gave me one of the greatest gifts a parent can give a kid: a younger sibling. My little brother and I had a pretty big age gap between us so we didn’t always hang out (when I was nine I was way too mature and sophisticated to watch Barney, apparently) but I was always so proud of him. I still remember going to his kindergarten graduation, where he was dressed up like a cowboy, and cheering him on as he got his diploma.
Holding my little brother for the first time {1996}
That may feel like just yesterday to me, but it was actually 12 years ago- last Wednesday, my little brother had his very last day of high school! While his plans for the future are as of yet unknown, one thing is for certain- it’s time to celebrate!
I’ve been browsing the Microsoft store online for gift ideas, and I’ve found a few things my brother would love, as well as something for every kind of grad. Whether your grad is looking for that first big job or is heading off to the dorms, Microsoft has perfect gifts for grads of all ages and stages. Keep reading for some of my favorite picks!
Xbox One- Everyone needs a way to blow off stress, and facing the real world for the first time is stressful! The Xbox One now starts at just $399.99.
Skype gift cards- Skype is a great way to keep in touch, whether they’re too busy working to come across town or too busy studying to come home for the weekend.
A new PC- Who couldn’t use a brand new PC? Microsoft has a PC deal just in time for graduation- you can get $100 toward the purchase of a PC $599 or more! Need accessories to go with it? You can get 30% off Microsoft hardware with the purchase of a new PC.
Surface 2 tablet- With a 10-hour battery life, this 10.6-inch tablet would be perfect for taking notes and studying between classes
Windows Phone- Whether you pick the Nokia Lumia 1020 (the only phone with a 41-megapixel camera) or the Samsung ATIV S Neo, remind them to call home with a Windows Phone.
If your graduate is heading to college this fall, they can take advantage of the special Education offer from Microsoft- all teachers and students save 10% always at the Microsoft store!
If your kids aren’t quite ready to graduate and are between the ages of 8 and 13, Microsoft stores have something just for them- FREE YouthSpark Summer Camps! You can learn more and find a camp near you on the Microsoft website.
Do you have any graduates in your life this year?

There are 7 years between my sister and I too. But I digress. I am not very savvy when it comes to technology so I appreciate these suggestions. I still haven’t gotten something for my nephew and I have started gathering ideas for the holidays too.

We’ve found food gift cards and gas (if they have their own car) to be a really great idea. They want some different food, or to go to a grocery store for snacks, drinks, or more toothpaste and things.

Very nice photos! Congrats to your brother on his graduation. I like giving nice gifts to recent grads. We all chipped in and got my niece a nice Laptop for her college next year. Doesn’t it seem that time flies?
