We had a great Memorial Day weekend!
On Saturday, we had a family movie night- complete with home popped popcorn!
The next day, we went to the store &picked up some food to bring to Justin’s mom’s for a Memorial Day BBQ! We picked up hamburgers & Hebrew National hot dogs- and all the fixings to go with them.
Justin, Shane & I went swimming for a bit, which is always fun. We didn’t stay too long though because it was Justin’s parents’ anniversary the next day {35 years!} so they had dinner reservations!
Monday was pretty low-key: we did some crafts, ran some errands & got some stuff done around the house with Justin’s extra day off.
It was a busy weekend overall though & Shane passed right out on Monday night!
One of the best things about Memorial Day {besides of course taking a special day to think about all of the people who serve our country} is that it’s the unofficial kick-off to summer- and grilling! Justin is an awesome grill master & the hot dogs were awesome.
I made myself what I call a “Somewhere Near Chicago Dog”. Let me explain: I was born in Chicago & lived there until I was 6. I meet people all the time that say they’re “from Chicago” but while I actually lived in the city of Chicago, most of the other people I talk to lived in some suburb or another. So really, they just lived somewhere near Chicago. &Since my favorite style of hot dog is similar to a Chicago dog but could never, ever be classified as one because it uses ketchup instead of mustard {&skips the peppers}, I call it the Somewhere Near Chicago Dog!
Somewhere Near Chicago Dog

1 grilled Hebrew National hot dog {any variety}

1 kosher dill pickle spear
kosher sweet relish

diced tomatoes
celery salt

Build your hot dog from the first ingredient on the list to the last!
I love Hebrew National hot dogs because I don’t have to wonder what’s in them. And since I don’t eat pork, I know they’re a safe bet unlike most brands. They don’t contain any artificial colors or flavors or any fillers either so I feel good giving them to Shane, which is good because he is hot dog obsessed.
Hebrew National tastes great because, for more than 100 years, we’ve adhered to the highest quality standards. Hebrew National Franks are made with premium cuts of 100% pure kosher beef, and contain no artificial flavors, no artificial colors, no by-products, and no fillers. Premium taste and high quality every time, for any occasion. That’s our guarantee.
