I love technology- I’ve always been a hoarder of anything that needs that be charged. Since technology ages so quickly {seriously- dog years have nothing on tech years} I tend to accumulate gadgets that I have given up for the newer model or the “hot new” item. This leaves me with a gadget graveyard just sitting around. Sound familiar?
If so, did you know you can actually make money off of your old gadgets? There’s always eBay or Craigslist, but eBay is such a pain, and Craigslist always scares me since you never really know who is about to show up at your door. So I’m glad that I recently discovered Glyde, a site where you can easily sell your old gadgets!
Glyde sent me a used 1st Gen iPad so that I could list it & check out how easy the selling process is. All you have to do is sign up {which is made easier by allowing you to connect to Facebook to connect}, then click “Start Selling”.
You can type the item you’re looking to sell into the search bar on top, which pre-populates to save you time, and then it asks for more information about the product. For example, for the 1st Gen iPad I sold, it asked if it was at&t or Wi-Fi, and if it was 16GB, 32 GB or 64 GB.
Then, a screen comes up where you give more information about your specific device- like does everything work, is everything included, etc.
Once you’ve filled in all of the information, a suggested price {the market price} comes up. You can then choose to raise your price or lower it to be more competitive. You may notice that there’s a difference between the price the buyer pays & the amount you actually make and there’s a reason for that. Glyde obviously needs to make a little money off of it to keep running, so they charge 12% on the first $100 of an item’s cost, and 8% after that. They also charge $1-$3.50 {depending on the item} for their shipping kit, which they send to you so that you can ship the item safely to your buyer. They even cover your shipping cost to the buyer, so really you’re barely paying any fees.
Selling went very smoothly for me- while it took a little while for someone to buy it {just a couple of weeks, and there were several of us bloggers all listing iPads at the same time so they had a lot to choose from} it was very, very easy. I listed my item, a shipper arrived in my mailbox, I used the included cleaning cloth, packed the iPad in the box according to the directions on the box & just popped it back in the mail, and a few days later, I had money in my Glyde account!
Once you have money in your account, you can cash it out via direct deposit into your checking account or via check {a $2.00 service fee will be deducted from your total for selecting a check} or you can use it to buy something on the site!
So what kinds of things can you buy & sell on Glyde? They currently take phones, tablets, eReaders, iPods, video games, DVDs and “extras” which include things from gaming consoles to earphones. You can even earn $5 on each friend that you refer that makes a sale or buys something!
If you’re looking to sell some old gadgets to make some extra money for the upcoming holidays {or buy some presents for up to 90% off!} be sure to check out Glyde!
Note: I was sent the iPad to list for sale but was asked to {and did} donate the money from the sale to my favorite charity. All experiences are authentic & all opinions are my own.
