Play Dress Up with Pony Royale!

I may be a “grown up”, but every now & then a toy comes along that makes me wish I wasn’t. Sometimes I’ll see a commercial or see a toy on a store shelf that brings out the 6 year old girl in me. Luckily, I have a two year old son willing to be my excuse to get said toys & we take them home and play.

Pony Royale is one of those toys.

We recently received Starfire & Sunburst, two of the ponies from The Land of Pony Royale! Watch this fun video to find out the story behind the ponies:

As you can see, there are 12 different ponies, and each pony has a birthstone 0n it’s forehead {I happened to get the one for my birthday, which is in November}. Some ponies also have extra features that are unique to them, like Starfire’s body art & Sunburst’s anklet.

Each pony also comes with two sets of Change-It-Up Hair, two tails, and they each have their own Mix-It-Up Fashion. With just two Pony Royale ponies, you can make over 60 fashion styles! &You can also buy individual Fashion & Hair packs to add even more options! Dressing up my Barbies was always my favorite thing to do, so I love that you can change the look of the ponies so easily. {I have been known to use a highlighter and/or scissors on Barbie’s hair to give her a makeover. This is SO much better- and much more temporary.}

It’s really easy to attach the hair & fashion pieces. See the plastic ends there? The one for the mane slides directly into the back of the pony’s neck, and the tail one just pops in where that belongs. The fashion can go on their forehead or two spots on their back so you can play around with that as well. The pieces come out just as easily as they go in- Shane had no problem doing either, and did so frequently.

The toys themselves are made very well, and are the perfect size. They aren’t so big that a younger child struggles with them, but they are big enough that you can even use small dolls to ride them.

The only thing that I will say is that we had one hair piece {pictured below} that had long waves & it got pretty frizzy. The ponies do come with a hairbrush, but the hair got kind of poofy after using it. It’s still super pretty, and I’m not really surprised by the frizz since when my hair is wavy it does the same thing, but I felt it was worth noting in case you’re shopping for extra hair packs. I’d stick to the ones with the straight hair, but that’s just me!

While they are technically “fashion dolls” and are made for girls, my son actually loves them, too- although he doesn’t actually care about dressing up for the sake of them looking pretty {he just loves that he gets to set up & destroy things over and over}. But he loves horses, and these are just the right size for his hands. &Since they’re really strong & sturdy, I’m not afraid of him playing too rough & breaking them.
