If you have any social media accounts at all, you may have noticed that eating is becoming more social. Rather than just noticing what those at your table are enjoying for dinner, you probably now know what people all across the country are eating and even what their favorite meal is at each restaurant. Not a day goes by where my Instagram feed doesn’t feature at least half a dozen photos of food & while some get annoyed by it, I actually love it. I’ve tried some great new restaurants, ventured out of my “usual” orders, and even gotten others to try my favorites using social media.
I think that’s what makes the new YP app from Yellow Pages so perfect for our time. Not only can you use it to look up the address & phone number of a restaurant, but you can search through reviews & even photos of thousands of locations!
If you’re in the mood for a new restaurant but are with your toddler who refuses to eat anything but chicken fingers, you can search by menu items to find a list of restaurants that carry that item. The app even found 273 locations near me! Talk about options- and Shane can’t complain about a single one of them!
The app has lots of other great features, too- like the Gas Prices section that not only shows the lowest regular gas around but even lets you choose your type of fuel- which is awesome since Justin’s car is a diesel & the other apps for that never help him. The ones that are showing as being fairly high in price for regular gas ended up being the ones with the cheapest diesel, so I love that you can pick & that it sorts it by location! The app also has a Deals section where you can redeem deals for restaurants & more where all you have to do is show the cashier your phone!
While I love all of the features of the app & will be using them all regularly, the thing I love best is the ability to review the restaurants. You can do it from YellowPages.com or directly through the app- I was asked to experiment with it &write ten reviews. I did the first 9 from the website because Shane had hijacked my phone, but after writing the 10th through the app, I was wishing I had done them all that way! I couldn’t figure out how to make titles for the reviews on the website but it was crazy easy on the app- and I was able to upload pics as well! Like this pic that I just had to upload to my Café Rio review:
