If you’ve ever sold a home, I’m sure you’re familiar with the phrase “Curb Appeal”, which is the visual attractiveness of a house as seen from the street & is what sells 49% of all homes {according to the National Association of Realtors}. But the Curb Appeal of your home doesn’t just matter when it’s on the market- it can make an impact on guests who are coming to your home for the first time as well as your neighborhood in general. So if your curb appeal is lacking, how can you grow it?
1. Make sure your hardware matches. Your light, lock set, doorbell and doorknob {&any other pieces you may have} should all match, and for that matter, should be clean and in good shape. This is actually a project on our to-do list: as you can see, our doorbell does not match anything else. When we moved in, our doorbell was broken & we had to replace it. We bought this one with every intention of switching out everything else to match since we hate the gold, but two years later, we’re yet to do it. But it makes a huge difference, which is why I plan on doing it very soon!
2. Spruce up your door. There are lots of things that you can do to update it: give it a fresh coat of paint, change the color of it, or even simply add a wreath! Your door is the focal point of the front of your house, so make sure it pops!
3. Make sure your lawn is healthy. Water plenty {but don’t overwater} and if possible, water during the hours of 8pm to 10am. Here in Las Vegas, this is the only window that we can water from May 1st until October 1st due to the extreme heat, but it’s a good tip to use anywhere. When it’s cooler out {during those hours}, less water will evaporate & your lawn will get more as a result!
4. Keep weeds at bay. We fight with our weeds every year- & they tend to win. To have a truly great lawn, you’ve got to keep the weeds at bay. There are several items you can pick up at a gardening store, but if your problem is as severe as ours, you can also consult a professional.

this is my main goal this year. I want to redo my front yard to make my home look more inviting. It’s been let go for way too long

Great tips. We are remodeling our home, which has made the outside abandoned. I did plant some flowers though and painted some places outdoors!

We have been working hard to increase our curb appeal. Our house was new when we bought it last year, so we’ve had to do a lot to make our yard look attractive!

We’re in a new subdivision and all the houses have the same landscaping out front–the stuff done by the builder! So adding some curb appeal is definitely on my list of things to do this summer.

Thankfully I am very into curb appeal and am very detailed when it comes to our front, side and backyard. I mow, weed wack, mulch and do the 4 step scott’s turf builder (my lawn looks AWESOME this year). There is nothing worse than driving by a house and the front yard looks like total crap.

I know whenever I’ve been house shopping that curb appeal has had an instant and lasting effect on me.
