No, I didn’t just have some big family secret dropped on me- I was accepted into the Toyota Women’s Influencer Network! You may have seen the badge on my sidebar as I’ve been part of it for this whole month but I never really got to explain what it is & why it matters so I wanted to take a second to do that!
There’s one thing above all else that excites me about this program: it’s being run by the wonderful ladies at Clever Girls Collective, who I have always been quite partial to. Getting this opportunity to work side-by-side with them for three months is already proving to be a great experience, and a whole lot of fun.
Now, I have to admit, when I got the congratulations email- I was nervous. I don’t have- and have never had- a Toyota, so I thought there must be some mistake. But I realized that the people at Toyota didn’t want us there to sit around & tell them how awesome they are- they want constructive feedback: good and bad. They want to know what we like & don’t like about cars, their brand, cars, other car brands, cars, other non-car brands, marketing, and did I mention cars? I don’t know much about horsepower or carburetors {in fact that’s the only engine part I know exists, and that’s because mine was broken at some point}- but I know that I like cars with space for carrying lots of stuff that you forget is in your trunk until you go to the grocery store and have no room for the groceries; I know I like pretty blue colors & medium-grey colors & none of those plastic looking bumpers underneath; I know that I like when the clock is on TOP of the stereo {one of the worst things about my current car} and that while I love built-in MP3 players, I am not ready to give up CD players in cars. These are the little things that Toyota wants to know because they want to get to know their customers- and they especially want to get to know their women customers.
Now, will my preference for built-in multi-colored glitter in the paint that reflect the sunlight but not so much that it blinds the guy behind you actually get us a line of super sparkly Barbie Girl cars? Sadly, no- but the fact that Toyota wants to know my thoughts on what could be improved means a lot to me- whether they actually do what I prefer or not. In fact, that’s what makes me like several of the brands that are my favorites- they listen to their customers.
In the next two months, I’ll be bringing you lots of fun Toyota goodness, so be sure to watch for that! The TWIN group is currently closed to new recruits- but if you have any awesome car ideas {or less than awesome car complaints}- I want to hear them! I would love to be able to bring your desires or concerns to the people at Toyota- to be the middle man, so to speak. If you have anything you’d like me to share, feel free to leave it in the comments, or email me anytime.
Disclosure: I was selected for participation in the TWIN community through a program with Clever Girls Collective. I did not receive any compensation for writing this post, or payment in exchange for participating. The opinions expressed herein are mine, and do not reflect the views of the Toyota.

I have a 2011 toyota corolla and the clock is WAY WAY down by the cup holders. I HATE it!!
I swear I have almost gotten in to accidents just looking at the damn time!

In my Hyundai, the CD display is where the clock logically should be & so I always think it’s like 2:15 {even when it’s like, 8am} because I always mistake the time for the place in the song! You’d think I’d figure it out eventually but eh.

How exciting, Shell! I’m looking forward to seeing what you (and Toyota) will be sharing with us over the next few months!
