Infertility touches so many lives- whether you’re the one affected or you know someone who has been through it {or still struggles with it}, it has probably touched your life in one way or another. I think that’s what makes this movie so beautiful & heartbreaking all at the same time.

About the movie:

From Academy Award-nominated writer/director Peter Hedges (Dan in Real Life, What’s Eating Gilbert Grape), and starring Golden Globe® winner Jennifer Garner, Joel Edgerton, Oscar® winner Dianne Wiest and CJ Adams as Timothy Green, comes this highly imaginative story about a happily married couple who can’t wait to start a family but can only dream about what their child would be like. Then one stormy night young Timothy shows up on their doorstep. Soon they and the small town in which they live learn that sometimes the unexpected can bring some of life’s greatest gifts. The story is written by Ahmet Zappa (“American Gangster,” “Changeling”).

We watched this movie as a family & while we lost Shane’s attention halfway through {solely because it’s not animated}, Justin & I were enamored with the story. I could feel the pain of the parents when they found out they weren’t going to have a child of their own, and I could feel their love for Timothy even when they weren’t entirely sure what they were supposed to be doing with him. While my son didn’t come from a garden, I found myself relating to Jim & Cindy as parents trying to find their way as they go.

I found the movie to be very inspirational &while I won’t spoil the ending, I will say that you should make sure to stock up on Kleenex first! It’s a beautiful story and was very well done.

The Blu-ray combo pack also had some full bonus features, like Deleted Scenes {always one of my favorite extras!}, both a music video & making-of for the end credits song “This Gift”, and a documentary on bringing the movie to the screen.
