Finding Dory To Dive Into Theaters In 2015!

2015 is going to be an amazing year. Three of my favorite movies of all time are getting sequels. The Avengers, Pirates of the Caribbean and now Finding Nemo are all releasing sequels in what I’m sure will be Disney’s biggest box-office year ever- primarily because I intend to see each movie about a million times.

finding dory

On Tuesday, plans for Finding Dory were announced &while the movie won’t be released until Thanksgiving weekend 2015, I’m already having fun stalking social media for updates. Here’s the latest:

When Dory said “just keep swimming” in 2003’s Oscar®-winning film “Finding Nemo,” she could not have imagined what was in store for her (not that she could remember). Ellen DeGeneres, voice of the friendly-but-forgetful blue tang fish, revealed details today about Disney•Pixar’s “Finding Dory”—an all-new big-screen adventure diving into theaters on Nov. 25, 2015.

“I have waited for this day for a long, long, long, long, long, long time,” said DeGeneres. “I’m not mad it took this long. I know the people at Pixar were busy creating ‘Toy Story 16.’ But the time they took was worth it. The script is fantastic. And it has everything I loved about the first one: It’s got a lot of heart, it’s really funny, and the best part is—it’s got a lot more Dory.”

Director and Pixar veteran Andrew Stanton takes audiences back to the extraordinary underwater world created in the original film. “There is no Dory without Ellen,” said Stanton. “She won the hearts of moviegoers all over the world—not to mention our team here at Pixar. One thing we couldn’t stop thinking about was why she was all alone in the ocean on the day she met Marlin. In ‘Finding Dory,’ she will be reunited with her loved ones, learning a few things about the meaning of family along the way.”

According to Stanton, “Finding Dory” takes place about a year after the first film, and features returning favorites Marlin, Nemo and the Tank Gang, among others. Set in part along the California coastline, the story also welcomes a host of new characters, including a few who will prove to be a very important part of Dory’s life.

“Finding Nemo” won the 2003 Academy Award® for Best Animated Feature; the film was nominated for three additional Oscars® (Best Writing, Original Screenplay; Best Music, Original Score; Best Sound Editing). It was also nominated for a Golden Globe® Award for Best Motion Picture–Comedy or Musical. In 2008, the American Film Institute named “Finding Nemo” among the top 10 greatest animated films ever made. At the time of its release, “Finding Nemo” was the highest grossing G-rated movie of all time. It’s currently the fourth highest grossing animated film worldwide. The film has more than 16 million Likes on Facebook, and Dory—with more than 24 million—is the most Liked individual character from a Disney or Disney•Pixar film.

DeGeneres’ distinctive comic voice has resonated with audiences from her first stand-up comedy appearances through her work today on television, in film and in the literary world. Her syndicated talk show, “The Ellen DeGeneres Show,” is in its 10th season and has earned 38 Daytime Emmy® Awards. DeGeneres has won 12 People’s Choice Awards and the Teen Choice Award for Choice Comedian for three consecutive years. Additionally, her show won two Genesis Awards and a GLAAD Media Award for Outstanding Talk Show Episode. For her unforgettable turn as Dory, DeGeneres was nominated for an MTV Movie Award for Best Comedic Performance.

Monsters Inc. 3D Review

It’s been eleven years since we first met Mike, Sulley & Boo, but now Monsters, Inc. is out in 3D & is a whole new way to experience the story! I’ve seen this movie so many times but I don’t think I’ll ever get sick of it so I was really excited when I found out that I’d be previewing it in 3D at the #DisneyMoviesEvent!

Mike Wazowski and James P. "Sulley" Sullivan work at a scream factory in Monstropolis. The power in Monstropolis is powered by children’s screams, and so each night, the monsters must go into closet doors & scare the children on the other side. Sulley is a bit of a rock star in the scaring world and consistently holds the record for most screams- but a creepy monster named Randall is out to beat him.

When one scare mission doesn’t go as expected, Mike & Sulley have to try to come up with a plan to make things right. Sulley has accidentally allowed a human child to come back to Monstropolis with him, and since monsters are as scared of humans as humans are of monsters, they worry that they’ll be caught with the tiny human. While trying to get rid of the child {who they name "Boo"} they have a change of heart and decide to protect her- which is good, because Boo, Mike & Sulley are all in danger!

If you’ve already seen Monsters, Inc., you should definitely still head out to see it in 3D! The 3D is done phenomenally and makes you feel like you’re actually in Monstropolis! There are two kinds of 3D- one that pops out at you, and one that is set in. This movie is done in the latter style, making it feel like you’re staring at a stage & watching a play rather than an animated movie.

Monsters, Inc. is a movie that I grew up with & was a huge part of my teenage years {I was 13 when it came out the first time. Also, I feel old now.} so I am so excited to share it in 3D with Shane! Since it’s been 11 years since it came out, there’s an entire new generation of children now who would absolutely love this movie! If those children are in your family, be sure to head to the theater to catch Monsters, Inc. 3D!

Finding Nemo is one of my favorite movies ever- Disney or not. Every character is so special, from the forgetful Dori to the uptight Marlin &everyone in between. I’ve seen this movie dozens of times since it came out, and I never tire of the jokes and am always fascinated by the beauty of the film.

&The beauty has been taken to a whole new level now that the movie has been released on Blu-ray, Blu-ray 3D & Digital!

Finding Nemo originally came to theaters in 2003 {which makes me feel old since I was a freshman in high school} & won the Oscar for Best Animated Feature! To date, the movie is the fifth highest grossing animated film worldwide. In 2008, the American Film Institute named Finding Nemo among the top 10 greatest animated films ever made, and it is the second highest grossing Pixar film to date (behind “Toy Story 3″).

2013 Disney Movie Preview

I can’t believe that it’s almost a brand new year! I have found some new Disney favorites this year, including Brave, Frankenweenie, and of course, Wreck-It Ralph, and I’m so excited for the movies 2013 has to bring!

oz the great and powerful poster

Oz The Great and Powerful: There are very few movies that I’ve ever been so excited for as Oz The Great and Powerful! I love all things Oz & have been obsessed since I was a kid, so I am on pins & needles waiting for this movie to come out! It stars Mila Kunis, James Franco, Michelle Williams, Zach Braff and Rachel Weisz- with a cast that strong, you know it’s going to be good!

About the movie:

Disney’s fantastical adventure “Oz The Great and Powerful,” directed by Sam Raimi, imagines the origins of L. Frank Baum’s beloved character, the Wizard of Oz. When Oscar Diggs (James Franco), a small-time circus magician with dubious ethics, is hurled away from dusty Kansas to the vibrant Land of Oz, he thinks he’s hit the jackpot—fame and fortune are his for the taking—that is until he meets three witches, Theodora (Mila Kunis), Evanora (Rachel Weisz) and Glinda (Michelle Williams), who are not convinced he is the great wizard everyone’s been expecting. Reluctantly drawn into the epic problems facing the Land of Oz and its inhabitants, Oscar must find out who is good and who is evil before it is too late. Putting his magical arts to use through illusion, ingenuity—and even a bit of wizardry—Oscar transforms himself not only into the great and powerful Wizard of Oz but into a better man as well.

Oz The Great and Powerful comes out March 8. In the meantime, you can follow the film on Facebook and Twitter for updates!

monsters university

Monsters University: Monsters, Inc. is one of my favorite movies- I’ve seen it a million times & I haven’t gotten sick of it. It comes back to theaters in 3D this December 19th {tickets are on sale now!} but in 2013 we’ll see how Mike & Sully met in Monsters University!

About the movie:

Mike Wazowski and James P. Sullivan are an inseparable pair, but that wasn’t always the case. From the moment these two mismatched monsters met they couldn’t stand each other. “Monsters University” unlocks the door to how Mike and Sulley overcame their differences and became the best of friends.

Screaming with laughter and fun, “Monsters University” is directed by Dan Scanlon (“Cars,” “Mater and the Ghostlight,” “Tracy”) and produced by Kori Rae (“Up,” “The Incredibles,” “Monsters, Inc.”). The film opens in U.S. theaters on June 21, 2013, and will be shown in Disney Digital 3D™ in select theaters.

Monsters University comes to theaters on June 21, 2013! You can follow along on Facebook for more updates!

frozen

Frozen: When I toured Disney Animation Studios on the Wreck-It Ralph press day, I was treated to a sneak peek of Disney’s 53rd Full-Length Animated Feature, Frozen! I didn’t see any footage, but I saw some of the inspiration as well as some concept art {which I can’t discuss but is gorgeous} and learned that Kristen Bell, who I adore, and Idina Menzel {who was in Glee & Enchanted- one of my favorite shows, and movies, ever} will be the voices of Anna & Elsa!

About the movie:

Featuring the voices of Kristen Bell and Idina Menzel, “Frozen” is the coolest comedy-adventure ever to hit the big screen. When a prophecy traps a kingdom in eternal winter, Anna, a fearless optimist, teams up with extreme mountain man Kristoff and his sidekick reindeer Sven on an epic journey to find Anna’s sister Elsa, the Snow Queen, and put an end to her icy spell. Encountering mystical trolls, a funny snowman named Olaf, Everest-like extremes and magic at every turn, Anna and Kristoff battle the elements in a race to save the kingdom from destruction.

Jennifer Lee, who was one of the screenplay writers for Wreck-It Ralph, has just been announced as one of the Directors {along with Chris Buck}, and she also contributed to the screenplay, so I have high hopes that this movie will be great for the whole family.

Frozen hits theaters on November 27, 2013, and you can like the movie on Facebook to keep up with news!

disney animation buildingMe & some other awesome bloggers standing in front of the old Disney Animation building, where Saving Mr. Banks is currently being filmed!

Saving Mr. Banks: This is a movie that any Disney freak {like myself} will be excited for! It’s about the man behind the mouse and his twenty-year pursuit of the film rights to Mary Poppins! As someone who grew up watching Disney’s Mary Poppins all the time {Chim chim cher-ee!} I can’t wait to find out the story behind it!

About the movie:

Two-time Academy Award®–winner Emma Thompson and fellow double Oscar®-winner Tom Hanks topline Disney’s “Saving Mr. Banks,” inspired by the extraordinary, untold backstory of how Disney’s classic “Mary Poppins” made it to the screen.

When Walt Disney’s daughters begged him to make a movie of their favorite book, P.L. Travers’ “Mary Poppins,” he made them a promise—one that he didn’t realize would take 20 years to keep. In his quest to obtain the rights, Walt comes up against a curmudgeonly, uncompromising writer who has absolutely no intention of letting her beloved magical nanny get mauled by the Hollywood machine. But, as the books stop selling and money grows short, Travers reluctantly agrees to go to Los Angeles to hear Disney’s plans for the adaptation.

For those two short weeks in 1961, Walt Disney pulls out all the stops. Armed with imaginative storyboards and chirpy songs from the talented Sherman brothers, Walt launches an all-out onslaught on P.L. Travers, but the prickly author doesn’t budge.  He soon begins to watch helplessly as Travers becomes increasingly immovable and the rights begin to move further away from his grasp.

It is only when he reaches into his own childhood that Walt discovers the truth about the ghosts that haunt her, and together they set Mary Poppins free to ultimately make one of the most endearing films in cinematic history.

Saving Mr. Banks will be out just in time for Christmas next year, on December 20, 2013.

These movies are all so different but every one of them looks amazing! Which one are you the most excited for?
