I’m a Delta Mom Ambassador! #WomansIn2ition

I participated in an Ambassador Program on behalf of Mom Central Consulting for Delta Faucets. I received a product sample and promotional item as a thank you for participating.

This time three years ago, we were in the dreaded purgatory that is escrow. Since we officially got the keys, we’ve been doing upgrades here & there- starting even before we moved in. Whether it’s something small like replacing faded & dated golden cabinet handles or something bigger like making over an entire room, our house has been a fun project that has us really making it our home.

One of the projects I have been wanting to do since we moved in was replace our shower head. The one that was here when we moved in was already dirty & gross, and though I clean it, it has some lime buildup that I can’t quite get. More importantly, I wanted a detachable showerhead so that I could clean the shower easier- it’s my absolute least favorite job but I figured being able to rinse all the cleanser off with the showerhead would make it at least a little more tolerable.

As much as I wanted the showerhead, it wasn’t a priority since ours worked, even if not as well as I wanted it to. But now I have the chance to upgrade, thanks to being a Delta Mom Ambassador!

We received the Delta In2ition Two-In-One Shower Arm Mounted Showerhead and I’m so anxious for Justin to install it! He will be doing that this weekend but in the meantime, I’ve been checking out all of the features. I just can’t believe that a showerhead can do all of this!

delta handheld showerhead

Features:

-It has Delta In2ition technology, meaning that the detachable handshower can work separate from or at the same time as the showerhead base. That means that even if you’re using it as a handheld, you won’t be freezing in the shower as you can opt to use the showerhead base at the same time!

-The In2ition handshower lets you choose your spray, so you can choose if you want a relaxing massage or invigorating spray.

-The handshower has a pause setting, so you can conserve water by setting it to trickle when you don’t need a full stream {like when you’re shaving}.

-It also has H2Okinetic technology, so it has an internal system that controls the speed, movement and droplet size of the water exiting the showerhead- so it feels like more water is coming out without actually using more water.

I’m so excited to have a new, clean showerhead that will help me keep the entire shower clean, too. &Since Shane is afraid of showers because he hates water on his head, I am planning on using the handheld part for those times when he needs a quick wash but a full-on bath {&the thirty minutes of play that entails} just isn’t an option.

I’ll be posting about our showerhead once it’s been installed & we’ve put it to the real test, but for now be sure to connect with Delta on Facebook & Twitter {#WomansIn2ition}!

What was the last upgrade you made in your house?

Breathe Easy with Airocide- Featuring Technology Developed by NASA!

My asthma has been mentioned quite a bit in the past, and that’s because it’s a major part of my life. I’ve struggled with it for years &have tried various things to get it under control. While I’ve had to put some treatments on hold for the time being since we’re trying to conceive, one of the biggest ways that I’ve learned to treat my symptoms is by breathing clearer air.

I live in the middle of a city, so there’s a lot of air pollution. Add in my dog who I’m convinced sheds her entire coat daily, in the most random spots of the house, and you’ve got a great setting for an asthma attack. But while I can’t control the air outside, or glue my dog’s fur to her to keep it from shedding, I can clean the dirty air.

I’ve used {and reviewed} an air purifier before, and it’s still one that I like & use. But that air purifier got bumped down to second place recently when I was given the opportunity to try out my new favorite, the Airocide Air Purifier.

Airocide Air Purifier

About Airocide:

The technology behind the Airocide® Air Purifier was born in NASA when space station astronauts needed to eliminate the ethylene gas produced by their fruits onboard shuttles.  What was developed was an air purification technology that eliminates 99% of ethylene gas from the air without filters or any harmful emissions. Commercial units were then introduced in 1998 to food packers, florists and grocery chains to extend the shelf life of their products.

Further testing showed the Airocide® Air Purifier was virtually 100% effective in destroying Volatile Organic Compounds (VOC’s) – basically the bad stuff that’s emitted by products you have around your home, like aerosol sprays, cleaning supplies, disinfectants, hobby supplies, dry-cleaned clothing, paints and paint thinners, strippers, pesticides and even air fresheners. Furthermore, Airocide Air Purifier eliminates pollen, dust mites, viruses, bacteria and other biological pollutants traditional air purifiers couldn’t even attempt. These findings were truly a breath of fresh air.

In 2003 the Airocide Air Purifier was introduced into hospitals, clinics, emergency rooms, dental offices, daycare centers and prisons to help stop the spread of infectious disease. Further studies consistently demonstrate dramatic reductions in mold and bacteria counts.

Since I’m not very good at explaining {or understanding} science, check out this video that explains the technology involved:

My thoughts:

As recommended, I’ve been using the Airocide in the room that I spend the most time in- the bedroom. Airocide asked me to wait about 2 months to write about them so that I could feel the full effects first, but I have to say that I could have written this post after just two weeks. I felt a difference almost immediately in the air quality- and while it seems like it’d be hard to tell since it’s air, it’s quite easy for me.

I used to reach for my inhaler almost every night as I was laying in bed to go to sleep. Going into that room, even if it was fur-free {which was rare, but did happen sometimes}, would always trigger my asthma. Sometimes I even woke up in the middle of the night needing it. Since I started using the Airocide, I have almost never used it while in that room at all. The only times I have used it are when I’m vacumming {and kicking up fur & dust faster than the Airocide can purify the air} and on a couple of occasions where my asthma had already been bad all day.

I also love the Airocide because:

It’s attractive- it’s not an eyesore like most air purifiers & even looks nice in my room. We have the decorative sleeve on it, but even without it it’s a fun, modern looking design.

It’s clean- unlike my first air purifier, it doesn’t need constant dusting on the unit or the wall behind it.

It’s low maintenance- my old purifier has two filters: one that you replace every 2 months & one is every 6 months or so. That’s a lot to keep track of. With the Airocide, you just replace the Reaction Chambers when the light starts blinking, which is about once a year. &While the annual replacement costs $99, it’s actually less than I spend on filters for the other machine over the course of the year.

It’s quiet- I’ve had it in my room for 2 months, and Justin just discovered that it made any sound at all the other day when we turned off the fan in our room. When the fan is on, even on low, you can’t hear the Airocide at all. &Even if the fan is off, you can barely hear it.

It works- the results speak for themselves! Airocide even offers a 60-day money-back guarantee so if it doesn’t work for you like it did for me, you can return it risk-free.

Whether you or someone in your family suffers from asthma, allergies, or eczema or you just want cleaner air, I can’t recommend the Airocide enough. If we could afford it, we’d get one for every room in the house, but for now I’m definitely sleeping easy!

Buy It: You can purchase the Airocide on their website for $799 {or monthly payments of $99.99}. Order today & receive the decorative sleeve for free as well as free shipping.

Entertaining & Educating with the Playaway View!

We like to travel. We only usually get to a few times a year, but since we live in the middle of a desert, it’s a minimum of four hours to anywhere that we want to go. Shane does really well with road trips, but he’s three, so he definitely gets bored. Whenever we go, he spends a good chunk of time on my phone watching movies.

The problem is, that means that I don’t have my phone! While I love talking to Justin, it’s still nice to have my phone to take photos of the scenery, to check my email, or to play games to pass the long drive. Not to mention that it totally kills my battery. So when I heard about the Playaway View, I knew it was a genius idea!

Playaway View

The Playaway View is a pre-loaded digital media player. It’s a little gadget roughly the size of a GPS that comes loaded with videos like Sesame Street, Little Pim, Shakespeare & even National Geographic! The Playaway View is crazy durable- I don’t even worry about the screen when Shane uses it. You can plug in headphones so that you can take it on a plane or to the grocery store without bothering anyone else, and the rechargeable battery lasts hours.

Playaway View Charger

&The best part of all? The Playaway View is FREE to use! Playaway Views are available exclusively at your public library & can be checked out like a book.

Playaway View

Shane loved watching Sesame Street on the Playaway View & he was so excited to go to the grocery store when our unit arrived because he wanted to test it out! The video quality is really, really good on the viewer, which was something I wondered about when I first heard of it. It looks crisp & sounds just as good. There are only a few buttons, so Shane mastered how to use it very quickly, which was nice since I didn’t have to stop every two seconds to fix stuff for him like I do with my phone sometimes.

We’ll be taking our Playaway View on our road trip next month! {So if you’re looking for someone to play What’s the Phrase with on June 7th, I’ll totally have my phone on me. Just saying.}

Playaway is also holding a contest right now that can help your school win their own $1,000 Playaway starter collection! Teachers & school librarians can enter the contest- one lucky school will be awarded a starter collection.

How do you entertain little ones on road trips?

Getting Ready to Kick Off the Summer!

It’s starting to heat up here in Vegas- it’s been in the 70’s & 80’s for the last few weeks & it’s supposed to hit the 90’s next week! Naturally, that means I’ve been begging my In-Laws to heat up their pool so we can come over for a swim!

You may remember that I have a mission this summer: to teach Shane to swim. He is so excited to learn & asks almost every day if the pool is ready yet- especially since we got a box of goodies from Swimways last week!

Swimways Swim Vest

Swimways has a Swim Steps system & each of their products corresponds with a level of swimming ability. Step 1 is Water Introduction, when baby can’t quite learn to swim and is just getting used to the water. Step 2 is Water Exploration, where toddlers and young children can learn to balance and paddle. Step 3 is Swim Training, where kids can really learn to swim.

Shane is currently in the second step, where he knows basic kicking but is still working on swimming. But with the help of his new Swim Vest & Swim Sweater, I know he’ll be learning the rest in no time.

Swim Sweater

-Great for use during potty training.
-Assorted colors to choose from.

Swimways Swim Vest

-Sturdy foam inserts provide balanced flotation.
-Front zipper with safety closure for easy on and off.
-Sleeves offer added sun protection.
-Available in a variety of contemporary designs and stylish colors.

Shane loves both of them because we happened to get them in his favorite color {green} & I love that they are not only very durable products, but add extra sun protection. The water in the pool is still a bit too cold to test these out first hand, but we’ll be putting them to good use in just a few short weeks!

In fact, we’ll definitely be getting in the pool on May 18th, which is National Learn to Swim Day! I’ll be sharing more about this special day & what you can do to celebrate soon so keep an eye out. In the meantime, we are digging out our sunscreen, pool toys & bathing suits and gearing up to start swimming!

How did you teach your kids how to swim?

Sweet Memories {Now Sugar Free}

I have a major sweet tooth. I don’t indulge in sweets every day or anything, but when I do they have to be the sweetest possible. Simple vanilla ice cream won’t do- it has to be sweet cream ice cream with chunks of candy in it. I like store bought cookies just fine, but prefer to make them homemade so that I can dump in extra chocolate chips. Because of my severe sweet tooth, I try to steer clear of desserts altogether, but I definitely indulge sometimes.

Werther's Original Sugar Free Caramels

I’m especially a huge sucker for caramel, because it reminds me of my Uncle Joe. When I was growing up & lived in Chicago, my uncle lived in my basement {I lived in a two-flat so there was actually an apartment in the basement}. He was diabetic, and as a result he had had his legs amputated and was blind so my Aunt {his sister, who lived in the middle apartment} took care of him. She babysat me most days while my parents worked, so the three of us {my aunt, uncle & I} spent a lot of time together. I’d sing for him, and even though he couldn’t see me I’d dance, too. &Occasionally, he’d let me have some of his candy- including Werther’s Original Caramels. In retrospect, he probably shouldn’t have been eating sugar, but at the time, it was just our little secret.

Werther's Original Sugar Free

Whenever I see Werther’s Originals, I think of him, even though he passed away on my sixth birthday. I even pick up a bag every now & then, but like I said- when I eat sweets I really eat sweets, so I tend to avoid buying them. So I was crazy excited when I found out that Werther’s now has a line of Sugar Free candies! At only 8 calories a piece & available in 4 flavors, I can finally indulge without feeling guilty.

Werther's Sugar Free Flavors

The Sugar Free Werther’s Originals come in Classic Caramel, Caramel Apple, Caramel Coffee & Caramel Cinnamon. I recruited Justin & Shane to help me taste test & they were all pretty awesome! Justin likes the coffee ones {he also typically reaches for coffee ice cream}, and while Shane first chose the Caramel Apple ones because they were his favorite color, he ended up preferring the Classic Caramel ones. I like all of them but side with Shane as the Classic Caramels are the sweetest & of course, they remind me of my Uncle.

Shane eating Werther's

The candies may be Sugar Free, but they don’t taste like it. There is no chemical aftertaste like many Sugar Free products have, and the second I tasted the Classic Caramel it immediately brought me back to being a little kid, sitting on my Uncle’s lap.

Now that I have found a candy that I can indulge with {since even if I eat 10 pieces in a sitting, it’s still just 80 calories}, I think I’m going to keep them in stock at our house. It’s the perfect small reward for Shane, and a quick trip down memory lane for me.

What food reminds you of your childhood?
