Saving Time and Money with Walgreens Paperless Coupons- and an Easy Summer Craft Idea!

This shop has been compensated by Collective Bias, Inc. and its advertiser. All opinions are mine alone. #WalgreensPaperless #CollectiveBias

I love saving money. Doesn’t everyone? When Shane was a baby, I briefly dabbled in “extreme couponing”. I learned how to use coupons, spent a lot of time clipping and sorting and looking up sales, then putting him into the car seat and heading to the store. My favorite store to shop at was Walgreens, because they were close to my place, had a friendly staff that didn’t roll their eyes at my stack of coupons, and of course, had great sales!

I still love Walgreens and shop there quite often, but I stopped couponing long ago. Like they say, time is money, and once Shane started crawling my time was more precious to me than my money. I stopped checking ads, stopped clipping coupons, and never looked back.

Paperless Coupons available at Walgreens #WalgreensPaperless #CollectiveBias

That all changed last week! I found out that Walgreens has a new section on their app for paperless coupons. Say what now? Paperless coupons are coupons that you “clip” on your phone. Using the Walgreens app, you can browse the coupons that they have available and with the touch of a button, add them to your linked Balance Rewards Card. All you have to do to save money is save your favorite coupons to your card via your phone, go shopping at Walgreens, and then use your Balance Rewards Card at checkout {either by scanning your actual Balance Rewards card, scanning your Balance Rewards Card barcode from your app, or just punching in your phone number}. It’s that easy!

One of the coupons currently available is for Ziploc bags, which was perfect because I needed them for a fun summer craft I had planned to do with Shane. I’m not very crafty so believe when I say it’s incredibly easy! Here’s how to do it:

Supplies needed for Tissue Fish craft #WalgreensPaperless #CollectiveBias

-1 Ziploc bag {I used the gallon size because Shane wanted a big fish}

-1 pack of tissue paper in your choice of colors {about 6 sheets for a large fish}

-1 rubber band

-Permanent Marker

1. Let your little one help you tear the tissue paper into lots of pieces. The pieces can be large or small, whichever your child prefers or is capable of. This part of the activity is great for fine motor skill development!

2. Tape down one bottom corner of the bag. This will become your fish’s face.

3. Together, stuff the bag with all of the paper until it’s completely full.

4. Seal the bag, bunch up the top part, and wrap the rubber band about an inch below the opening of the bag as shown.

5. Fan out the top of the bag to form the tail.

6. Draw a face on your fish friend! You can do this for your little one or let them do it themselves, depending on their age and your trust in them using permanent markers.

We made a “two-faced” fish because Shane wanted to draw a face on one side and asked me to draw one on the other. Feel free to have fun with it & make it your own! It’s a simple craft idea but it’s a fun way to spend time together!

I love the new paperless coupons on the Walgreens app because I can still spend my precious time with my son {whether we’re making tissue fish or just reading a book on the couch} while still saving money on things we need at Walgreens!

Sponsored by Lunchbox, all opinions are 100% my own.

I don’t know about you, but my hair always looks its worst during the summer months. Between the chlorine exposure, dry heat, and more relaxed schedule leading to less deep conditions. By the time August rolls around, my hair is typically pretty bad.

It doesn’t have to be that way, though. This year I’m stocking up on TRESemmé products so that my hair will stay smooth, sleek, and soft! Last Day: Get 2,000 Balance Rewards Points from St. Ives & Vaseline!

Sponsored post by Lunchbox- all opinions are my own.

You know how everyone has those scents that reminds them of their childhood? For me, one of the strongest is the smell of St. Ives lotion. My mom wore it every day for as long as I can remember- she even used to put some on my brother’s baby blanket when he was having a hard time sleeping! She used it all the time because it did it’s job of keeping her skin hydrated in the dry desert we live in. St. Ives has added tons of new products since then, but the smell of it always reminds me of my childhood!

Whether you use St. Ives Fresh Hydration Lotion or Vaseline’s Spray & Go {which are both sprays &are more my speed these days since I don’t have time to wait for my lotion to dry}, you can get 2,000 Balance Rewards points just by purchasing your lotion. Hurry though because it ends tomorrow, May 31st! Even Vaseline Men Spray Lotion can get you the deal, so be sure to stock up for the whole family. Just buy two or more participating products at Walgreens using your Balance Rewards card & you’ll score 2,000 Balance Rewards points to be used on a future purchase.

4 Things That Should Be More Simple {&Join Simple for a Saturdate at Walgreens!}

Sponsored post by Lunchbox all opinions are my own.

I am a firm believer that everything in life should be as simple as possible. Of course, there are some things that will never be simple, no matter how hard we try. Here are four things that should be more simple:

Business Tax And Busness Expense

Taxes: 1099’s, W-2’s, Schedule ABCEFG… Who can keep track? Why can’t the forms just have real names, like “The one that shows you how much money you got” or “The one that means you owe us money”?

Woman Sticking Out Her Tongue

Family: Whether it’s your Great-Aunt Gertrude, your Grandmother, or your Father, everyone has a family member that is a little… eccentric. While it may make for some complicated small talk, it’s totally worth it when your Mom calls saying,  “You’ll never guess what your Crazy Aunt Martha just got arrested for at the pet store!” {Ps. Don’t have that family member in your family? It’s probably you.}

Traffic Jam In Heavy Snowfall On Mountain Road

Driving: For many of us it’s now second nature, but when you think about it- driving is hard. You have to constantly be aware of what’s going on in front of you, behind you and on either side of you, while minding dozens of road signs, street lights, weather conditions, and construction/school zones. Add a distracting child into the backseat & it’s a wonder that driving is legal at all.

Happy children sitting on green grass outdoors in summer park

Parenting: Nothing about parenting is simple- that is, aside from the deep and amazing love that you will always have for your children, even when you catch them painting on the walls with Nutella.

While some things will always be complicated, Simple aims to make your beauty routine purely, well, simple. They have facial wipes, cleansers, moisturizers and eye care for even the most sensitive of skin and any other skin type, too. The products have NO parabens, NO dyes, NO artificial perfumes and NO harsh irritants so your skin is getting the love it needs- pure and simple.

Save $50+ Per Month on Fruits and Vegetables

This post is brought to you by a guest contributor.

Saving money on groceries is a priority for most families, but we don’t need to replace the more expensive items on our shopping lists – such as meat and produce – with less healthy alternatives such ramen noodles in order to save money. In fact, you could save as much as $50 per month or more by simply changing your shopping habits, particularly when it comes to fruits and vegetables:

Save $50 a Month on Fruits and Vegetables

Grow Your Own

This may be difficult for urban or apartment-dwelling families, but if you have some free space outdoors and occasional sunlight, then consider growing some of your own produce. This is by far the freshest option on this list – straight from your garden to your table! – but it does require a small upfront investment in gardening supplies such as pots, fertile soil, watering can, and seeds. As we transition into the spring months, now is a great time to start a fun and money-saving hobby like gardening.

Farmer’s Markets

If growing your own food is out of the question but you still want fresh produce at affordable prices, then visit your local farmer’s market. Haggling on prices is generally frowned upon, but you can still find some sweet deals on just-picked produce from local farmers.

Buy Less, More Often

If you don’t have access to a farmer’s market but you live near a grocery store, then limiting the amount of produce you buy each time could help you cut back on grocery expenses as well as food waste. Approximately 35 million tons of food goes to waste each year in the United States and on an individual household level, you could avoid wasting food by buying the minimum amount you need for a few meals at a time each time you go to the store. An advantage to this strategy is that it can help you avoid rapidly approaching expiration dates, but one disadvantage is that it requires more trips to the grocery store, which requires gas if you live too far to walk or bike there.

Frozen and Canned Produce

Did you know that frozen or canned produce is often healthier than its fresh counterparts? Exposure to air diminishes the nutritional content of food, while freezing or canning it can preserve the nutrients, as well as give you more time before the food expires altogether. Frozen and canned foods may not have that same “fresh taste,” but they’re often cheaper than what you’ll find in the fresh produce aisle at the store.

Supermarket Deals and Discounts

Does your local grocery store offer daily or weekly discounts on items in the store? If so, keep an eye out for their produce deals and build your family meals around the latest discounted items. Coupons – which you can find through your local newspaper or online at sites such as SumoCoupon – are also very helpful when it comes to lowering your grocery bill without slashing items from your shopping list.

Dollar Store Produce

Although much of what you’ll find here is probably close to its expiration date, buying produce from dollar stores is an extremely frugal way to put fruits and vegetables on the table without paying conventional grocery store prices. Be sure to check each item prior to purchasing (but don’t ignore this option just because it seems too cheap to be legitimate – there are certainly some great deals to be had at dollar stores!).
