4 Things That Should Be More Simple {&Join Simple for a Saturdate at Walgreens!}

Sponsored post by Lunchbox all opinions are my own.

I am a firm believer that everything in life should be as simple as possible. Of course, there are some things that will never be simple, no matter how hard we try. Here are four things that should be more simple:

Business Tax And Busness Expense

Taxes: 1099’s, W-2’s, Schedule ABCEFG… Who can keep track? Why can’t the forms just have real names, like “The one that shows you how much money you got” or “The one that means you owe us money”?

Woman Sticking Out Her Tongue

Family: Whether it’s your Great-Aunt Gertrude, your Grandmother, or your Father, everyone has a family member that is a little… eccentric. While it may make for some complicated small talk, it’s totally worth it when your Mom calls saying,  “You’ll never guess what your Crazy Aunt Martha just got arrested for at the pet store!” {Ps. Don’t have that family member in your family? It’s probably you.}

Traffic Jam In Heavy Snowfall On Mountain Road

Driving: For many of us it’s now second nature, but when you think about it- driving is hard. You have to constantly be aware of what’s going on in front of you, behind you and on either side of you, while minding dozens of road signs, street lights, weather conditions, and construction/school zones. Add a distracting child into the backseat & it’s a wonder that driving is legal at all.

Happy children sitting on green grass outdoors in summer park

Parenting: Nothing about parenting is simple- that is, aside from the deep and amazing love that you will always have for your children, even when you catch them painting on the walls with Nutella.

While some things will always be complicated, Simple aims to make your beauty routine purely, well, simple. They have facial wipes, cleansers, moisturizers and eye care for even the most sensitive of skin and any other skin type, too. The products have NO parabens, NO dyes, NO artificial perfumes and NO harsh irritants so your skin is getting the love it needs- pure and simple.

Save $50+ Per Month on Fruits and Vegetables

This post is brought to you by a guest contributor.

Saving money on groceries is a priority for most families, but we don’t need to replace the more expensive items on our shopping lists – such as meat and produce – with less healthy alternatives such ramen noodles in order to save money. In fact, you could save as much as $50 per month or more by simply changing your shopping habits, particularly when it comes to fruits and vegetables:

Save $50 a Month on Fruits and Vegetables

Grow Your Own

This may be difficult for urban or apartment-dwelling families, but if you have some free space outdoors and occasional sunlight, then consider growing some of your own produce. This is by far the freshest option on this list – straight from your garden to your table! – but it does require a small upfront investment in gardening supplies such as pots, fertile soil, watering can, and seeds. As we transition into the spring months, now is a great time to start a fun and money-saving hobby like gardening.

Farmer’s Markets

If growing your own food is out of the question but you still want fresh produce at affordable prices, then visit your local farmer’s market. Haggling on prices is generally frowned upon, but you can still find some sweet deals on just-picked produce from local farmers.

Buy Less, More Often

If you don’t have access to a farmer’s market but you live near a grocery store, then limiting the amount of produce you buy each time could help you cut back on grocery expenses as well as food waste. Approximately 35 million tons of food goes to waste each year in the United States and on an individual household level, you could avoid wasting food by buying the minimum amount you need for a few meals at a time each time you go to the store. An advantage to this strategy is that it can help you avoid rapidly approaching expiration dates, but one disadvantage is that it requires more trips to the grocery store, which requires gas if you live too far to walk or bike there.

Frozen and Canned Produce

Did you know that frozen or canned produce is often healthier than its fresh counterparts? Exposure to air diminishes the nutritional content of food, while freezing or canning it can preserve the nutrients, as well as give you more time before the food expires altogether. Frozen and canned foods may not have that same “fresh taste,” but they’re often cheaper than what you’ll find in the fresh produce aisle at the store.

Supermarket Deals and Discounts

Does your local grocery store offer daily or weekly discounts on items in the store? If so, keep an eye out for their produce deals and build your family meals around the latest discounted items. Coupons – which you can find through your local newspaper or online at sites such as SumoCoupon – are also very helpful when it comes to lowering your grocery bill without slashing items from your shopping list.

Dollar Store Produce

Although much of what you’ll find here is probably close to its expiration date, buying produce from dollar stores is an extremely frugal way to put fruits and vegetables on the table without paying conventional grocery store prices. Be sure to check each item prior to purchasing (but don’t ignore this option just because it seems too cheap to be legitimate – there are certainly some great deals to be had at dollar stores!).

Make Love Not War with AXE Peace® Deodorant at Walgreens

Disclaimer: This post is sponsored by Lunchbox. All opinions are my own.

Few things can bring memories or emotions to mind as quickly as scent. It’s a powerful thing- when was the last time you caught a whiff of something that reminded you of a toy from your childhood, or a dish your Grandma used to make?

The same applies with men’s fragrance, and whenever I smell AXE I think of Justin, who has used their deodorant for years. If your man doesn’t have a signature scent yet {or he’s looking to switch his up}, you can start making your own scent-induced memories with new AXE Peace!

Everyone knows when a guy’s in love, he’s more at peaceful. That’s why this season, to make the world a better place, AXE® is helping guys fall in love with AXE Peace®.

In the spirit of making love, not war, AXE is asking guys and girls to participate in Operation Kiss for Peace. To participate, find someone to kiss, take a photo, and post it to Instagram, Twitter or the Axe Facebook timeline with the hashtag #KissForPeace! You’ll be entered to win a weekly prize of AXE products, bigger monthly prizes of a bring-the-peace pack including pairs of prizes for you and a friend, or even the grand prize- a trip to Berlin!

Did you know that AXE makes hair products, too? Justin uses the Messy Look Styling Gum and swears by it. Apparently Denver Bronco Eric Decker does, too- check out his gorgeous hair in this hilarious video:

Right now you can get a great deal on AXE products at Walgreens! Buy any 2 AXE Peace® products at Walgreens &you’ll get 2,000 balance rewards points. Those points add up quickly and can be used on any purchase once you accumulate 5,000. Plus, your guy will smell amazing!

How to Save Money in Las Vegas

Next week is New Year’s Eve, and thousands of people will be flocking here to Vegas to ring in the New Year on the Las Vegas Strip. Whether you’re one of those people or you have been thinking about hitting Vegas for awhile, you may be stressing out about the amount of money you may spend here {they don’t call it “Lost Wages, Nevada” for nothing!}. While I can’t keep you from doing some of the best shopping of your life {hello, Tiffany’s!}, living here for 19 years & having countless friends & family come to visit has given me some pretty good insight into how to save money in Vegas.

How to Save Money in Las Vegas 3

Hitch a ride. When done right, you can get around for free in Vegas. While we don’t have the most intricate bus system throughout the city, many off-Strip hotels offer free shuttles that you can take at certain times either to a location on the Strip or to & from the airport. This service varies for each hotel, so be sure to plan ahead of time.

Do it yourself. If you have a vehicle, parking is free most places in Vegas as long as you utilize the self-parking garages rather than opting for the valet {which is also free, but tips add up}.

Get a multi-day pass. If you plan to utilize the monorail, figure out how much you’ll use it & get the right pass. You can pay as much as $5.00 for a single ride, but if you get a one-day or multi-day pass, your cost per ride will go down significantly- if you’re actually using it. For example, a four day pass costs $36, which is what you’d pay on three separate one-day passes, so you get a day for free just for buying it ahead of time.

Become a member. If you’re planning on hitting the casino floor while you’re here, see if the casino you’re at has a rewards program. You can often earn free play or other incentives just for signing up!

{Some of} The best things in life are free. There are several free attractions all along the Strip, including circus acts at the Circus Circus, the beautiful and ever-changing Conservatory & Botanical Gardens at the Bellagio, and many more {check the infographic below for more ideas}.

Look for coupons. Vegas is known for some of the amazing shows we have here, from Cirque du Soleil to the Blue Man Group to the new residency by Britney Spears. There’s something for everyone, but ticket prices can be quite the setback. Keep an eye out when in hotels or casinos for discount ticket offers because they are everywhere- you just have to keep an eye out for them {or ask your concierge}.

Have a backup plan. If you don’t have any luck, you can still save money by opting for further back seats or going to see one of the many, many other shows in town.

Start your day off right. The Strip is home to some of the best dining in the world. We have World-famous chefs, high-end restaurants and any dish you could ever desire. The first step is to look for a hotel that offers free breakfast- if you get a free breakfast, you immediately have more money to spend on lunch & dinner!

Eat off the Strip. If you’re able to get even just a couple of miles away, you won’t pay nearly as much. There are some amazing restaurants that aren’t even on the Strip, and they don’t have a built-in “convenience tax” for their location. Even fast-food chains cost more if you stop by one located on the Strip- those chicken nuggets might cost you $2 less just 2 miles away, which adds up.

Bring your own snacks. If you’re walking around sight-seeing all day, you’ll likely work up an appetite. If you stop for an expensive meal or snack every time your stomach starts growling, you will blow through your food budget very quickly. Keep some granola bars, crackers or other easy to pack snacks &save the spending for the real meals.

When my friends & family come to visit, I often recommend that they stay near my house so I can offer them transportation. One of my favorite off-Strip hotels is the JW Marriott Las Vegas Resort & Spa. It’s in a great part of town, the rooms are beautiful and the rates are so much cheaper than the Strip hotels. &If you’ve ever stayed at one of the Marriott’s 3,800 properties in over 74 countries and territories around the world, you know how nice and accommodating a Marriott hotel is!

To help make your Vegas vacation even better, Marriott put together this infographic with even more tips:

Whether you’re planning a trip to Vegas in 2014 or just daydreaming about one, be sure to utilize these tips the next time you’re here!

Stocking Up &Saving Big with Carter’s Friends & Family Sale! {With 25% Off Carter’s Printable Coupon}

I participated in an Influencer Program on behalf of Mom Central Consulting for Carter’s. I received a gift card to facilitate my shopping trip and to thank me for participating.

Shane has a wide variety of clothing brands in his closet, but he’s always had a lot more Carter’s than anything else. One of the initial reasons is that when he was a baby, I bought a lot of clothing second-hand, and the consignment shops were filled with Carter’s stuff because Carter’s clothing lasts a long time &can be handed down from baby to baby. Another reason is that they just make ridiculously cute clothing- they have the best illustrated characters, little animals on the bottoms of pants, and other cute touches that just make the outfits. &Finally, we have a lot of Carter’s clothing because they have always fit Shane really well- whether it was his Newborn coming home outfit or the 5T jammies he’s wearing tonight.

Carter’s prices are always very affordable for the quality, but you can often get their clothing on sale as well. They are great about offering discounts & coupons, and right now is a great time to stock up! In addition to the fact that right now is the Year End Sale, with up to 70% off on hundreds of items for babies and kids, you can also get 25% off your entire purchase!

I’m hoping to swing into the store tomorrow to pick up some great deals {&stock up on baby clothes}, but I couldn’t help but do a bit of virtual window shopping beforehand. Check out some of the great deals I found on baby essentials:

Carter's long sleeved onesies

With 25% off coupon, just $9.00

Microfleece Zip-Up Sleep & Play
MSRP: $18.00
On sale for $7.00
With 25% off coupon, just $5.25

As you can see, it’s the perfect time to stock up right now, which is perfect since we’re welcoming our little one in just a few short weeks. It’s a great time to stock up on clothing for older kids too, since their clothing goes up to size 7 and the year-end sale is on select items sitewide & storewide.

If you can get into a Carter’s store, I highly recommend shopping there in person. You can see the high quality of the clothes better in person than online, and if you have a little one who likes to be involved in the shopping process it can actually be quite fun! I took Shane there a couple of months ago &he liked helping me pick out both his own clothes & a couple of things for the baby. He loved the details on the baby clothes as well- he wanted everything with a monkey or frog that he could find!

If you’re able to make it into the store, be sure to print this coupon {or save this page on your mobile device so you can get it scanned at the store}:

MCC Carter's Friends & Family Coupon{Click to enlarge}

If you’ll be shopping from the comfort of your home, you can still use the coupon by entering the code FAMLOVE on their website. Be sure to check out their entire sale- everything is just so cute!
