This weekend, we’re going to go see Finding Dory! To prepare the boys for the new movie, we watched Finding Nemo a couple of months ago, and since then, it’s been nothing but Dory and Nemo at our house. It’s no surprise that Zac’s favorite character was Dory- everyone loves Dory!
Recently our love for the forgetful blue tang extended to snack time. The other day, I tried to tide the boys over while waiting for the new movie with some Finding Dory Candy Bark! They loved it so much that we ran out pretty fast- but not before I took some photos of this pretty- and easy– dessert!
Ingredients:
Wilton Royal Blue Candy Melts
Wilton Yellow Candy Melts
ChocoMaker Yellow Candy Shred
ChocoMaker Blue Shimmer Rock Candy*
*{Not available online but found at Michael’s- similar here}
Directions:
1. Grab two cookie sheets or rectangular cake pans and line them with wax paper.
2. Pour blue candy melts into a bowl and microwave for one minute. Stir and continue microwaving in 15 second increments, stirring after each time, until fully melted.
3. Repeat with yellow candy melts. While those are in the microwave, pour half of the bowl of blue candy melts onto one of the cookie sheets. Spread into a thin layer- not so thin that you get gaps in the candy, but just a little less than that.
4. When the yellow candy melts are done, use a spoon and pour about half the bowl over the blue in streaks. I found the easiest way to be just letting the candy melts drip off the spoon while constantly moving the spoon up and down and side to side. This does not- and should not- be exact! Feel free to have fun with it.
5. Next, repeat the process but backwards. Pour the remaining yellow candy melts into the second cookie sheet and spread into a thin layer. Add the rest of the blue candy melts on top, again randomly.
6. Immediately cover in sprinkles as desired! I used the sprinkles listed {which I got at Michael’s} but you can use any yellow or blue sprinkles.*
7. Place into the freezer for about half an hour or until fully solid and cold. Lift bark up over cookie sheet and break into pieces! Store in a food storage bag in the fridge to prevent melting.
My boys loved this special Finding Dory treat! It was beyond easy to make- only taking a few minutes- and since it doesn’t involve the oven and is best enjoyed cool, it’s a great summer dessert!
You can catch Finding Dory now in theaters everywhere!
