This week, we have been doing all we can to stay cool. We’re barely going outside unless it’s to go somewhere air conditioned or with a pool. With temperature soaring to over 110 degrees and no end to the heat in sight, we’re starting to feel the side effects of summer.
In addition to being extremely bored from being cooped up inside, we’re all seeing changes in our skin. Of course we’re all a bit more tan than usual, but our skin is drying out, too. I struggle with dry skin most of the year but it gets really bad in the summer between the chlorine from the pool, the heat from the sun and the extra showers I take since walking across the street to get the mail can be sweat-inducing in this heat!
Luckily my shower can also help rehydrate my skin, as long as I use the right products. I start my shower with a body scrub made with just two ingredients: sugar and my body wash. Here’s how to do it:
Fill a mason jar {any size works} about 3/4 full of sugar- the regular kind that you likely have in your pantry already.
Top it off with the body wash of your choice- I recommend Caress! Stir well with a butterknife until well blended. Add more sugar or body wash as needed to reach your desired texture. {The sugar looks like it’s only halfway in the jar in the photo above because the body wash started to mix in on it’s own. I actually went a little over 3/4 full of sugar because I like a little extra exfoliation power!}
Caress Daily Silk body wash helps keep my skin smooth {thanks to the triple silkening moisturizers} and help retain moisture, even when the sun is trying to steal it. There are several fragrances to choose from, but I love White Peach & Silky Orange Blossom- it smells light and sweet, and transforms my shower into a refreshing oasis after a long, hot day.

How do you keep your skin healthy in the summer?

OH my word, can I just say that this is such a genius idea! I already love the silky smooth feeling I get from Caress but to add sugar and make a scrub to remove dead skin cells and exfoliate makes this recipe a winner! I can’t wait to use it!
