When I was a kid in the 90’s, all of the 70’s trends came back. Bell bottoms, smiley faces, tie-dye- it was like someone just opened a time capsule after twenty years and everything that was old was new again. My mom would constantly tell me how she had the same stuff when she was growing up and that she couldn’t believe it was back again!
I’ve already witnessed the same thing with my kids, although not with fashion. So many of the things that I grew up with have come back recently- Furby, My Little Pony, Rainbow Brite, and now the yummiest- M&M’s® Crispy! They were always my favorite and I was so sad when they were discontinued. There’s a reason they make every reincarnation of the “90’s memories” posts on sites like Buzzfeed- M&M’s®Crispy candies are delicious.
Since I first heard that they were back, I couldn’t wait to share them with my kids. They have just 180 calories per serving, so they make a great treat after a great spelling test score or a job well done with chores! As soon as I started seeing my friends post that they found them at CVS, I had to go and get them myself!
M&M’s® Crispy candies are milk chocolate with a crispy rice center, and I wanted to make a recipe to share my excitement over being reunited with a long lost favorite treat with my family. What I came up with is so easy that it’s barely even a recipe, but rather a fun treat that you can make in just minutes!
Ingredients:
Vanilla wafer cookies
Semi-sweet chocolate chips
M&M’s®Crispy
Directions:
1. Place wafers in a single layer in a glass baking dish
2. Melt chocolate chips in a separate bowl- start at 45 seconds. Stir, then repeat in 15 second intervals until chocolate is melted.
3. Gently spread melted chocolate over wafers
4. Lightly smash M&M’s®Crispy candies. You don’t want them so crushed they turn to powder, but you want them tiny! {To make this less messy, you can put the candies into a baggie and seal it before smashing.}
5. Sprinkle M&M’s®Crispy candies over melted chocolate.
6. Place dish into fridge and let cool for about 15-20 minutes or until set. Break apart or cut with a knife and enjoy!
