The last couple of weeks have been more than a little crazy, so I missed updating last week. A lot of stuff has been the same for both weeks so I’m mostly posting for Week 21, but will touch on a couple of things from Week 20.
How Far Along: 21 Weeks
Due Date: February 6, 2014
Boy or girl: We know & will be announcing within the week!
Baby’s Development:
Your baby now weighs about three-quarters of a pound and is approximately 10 1/2 inches long — about the size of a carrot. You may soon feel like she’s practicing martial arts as her initial fluttering movements turn into full-fledged kicks and nudges. You may also discover a pattern to her activity as you get to know her better. In other developments, your baby’s eyebrows and lids are present now, and if you’re having a girl, her vagina has begun to form as well. -via babycenter.com
Movement: Lots! Baby is getting stronger &stronger. I was trying to fall asleep the other night & I swear they were having a solo dance party in there!
The Bump:
Symptoms: The nausea has gotten much better- it’s still there daily but for short periods of time rather than all day, every day. I have been so, so tired- but I’m just about positive that I’m anemic {¬ just because Dr. Google says so- I match every symptom & have several of the risk factors} so that explains the exhaustion & a few other things. I’ve started supplementing with iron &it’s been helping a little.
I’m also starting to get big enough that I can’t bend down without making old people sounds, which I think is hilarious right now but I know will get old soon. &My upper back has been killing me.
Cravings: Jack in the Box’s tacos. I have NO idea. This kid just loves spicy stuff- I mean seriously, my cravings so far have been Hot & Spicy sandwiches, BBQ Chips, & Spaghetti-O’s {which aren’t spicy, but are acidic}.
Food aversions: I’m still having major issues with most meat, including chicken {which was my one safe meat pre-pregnancy}. Despite the nausea being better, there are definitely lots of foods that I can’t handle actually preparing or eating, but I’ve gotten better about being around stuff for the most part.
What made me cry this week: The Dexter series finale. Which I refuse to talk about because I’m still mad. Oh, and Grey’s Anatomy’s premiere. Mad about that one, too.
Medical stuff/appointments: Last week, we all went in for my ultrasound! We officially learned baby’s gender. I was supposed to see the doctor right after but he got called to a delivery, so I had to go back the next day. Everything was right on track! My belly is measuring exactly the right week & baby is measuring a few days ahead, just like the scan I had at 13 weeks. I go back in two weeks {four weeks from the last appointment, but that was two weeks ago}.
Something I am excited about: Packing away my non-maternity clothing! I need to make room in my closet, plus the seasons are changing, so I am going to pack away anything that doesn’t fit since it’ll be at least 6 months before I can realistically wear any of it. {It’s 4 months until baby + 2 months of cold weather/post-baby body/constantly being spit up on & living in sweats.}
Something I am not so excited about: I believe I have to have the glucose test at my next appointment. I don’t like the taste of it {obviously, since no one does} but my main concern is the waiting. I asked the lady making my appointment if I’d be getting the test the next time {that way I could get a sitter for Shane if I knew I’d be there for a long time} &she said the doctor decides while I’m there. So… I may be in for a long wait with a four year old. We’ll see.
Baby purchases: I got the cutest pair of PJ’s the other day, and Justin & I bought a cute onesie while we were at Target. They are gender specific though so I can’t say what they look like but they’re cute!!
Shane’s Thoughts: I can’t share most of Shane’s thoughts this week without revealing the gender, but he’s still really excited! Today I mentioned to Justin that my back was hurting & Shane said “Aww, don’t worry! It will stop hurting when all of your babies come out of you.” Then he rubbed my back like I do for him when he’s crying. It was hilarious but super sweet. {&No, we don’t have a surprise- there’s only one baby in there. Shane just has wishful thinking as he has suddenly decided he’d like two siblings.}
