Santa Paws 2: The Santa Pups is the newest talking dog movie to come from Disney & if you know me, you know that my weaknesses include Disney, Christmas & talking dogs. {Okay, you can probably add cookies in there somewhere too.} I knew I would absolutely love this movie based on that criteria alone, and I was right! That said, the movie has more to it than I imagined.
About the movie:
The North Pole has a new litter of playful pups! However, when the frisky foursome—Hope, Jingle, Charity and Noble—practically destroy Santa’s Workshop with their mischievous gamboling, they realize the best way to prove that they’re responsible enough to become Santa’s Helpers is to show how well they can spread the Christmas spirit all by themselves. With help from a magic crystal, they start granting everyone’s wishes. But their good intentions backfire when one unhappy boy asks that Christmas go away forever! With his wish impetuously fulfilled, and the joyous spirit quickly disappearing from the planet, Mrs. Claus and the pups have to find a way to reverse the spell—or risk losing Christmas forever!
There were quite a few parts of this movie that made me tear up, which you wouldn’t expect from the description. But the “unhappy boy” is unhappy because his mother just passed, and the whole family is clearly hurting over the loss. I definitely got a little misty eyed when I saw the dad crying while his daughter carried on her mother’s tradition of singing Christmas songs on the radio station and a few other times as well.
But even though the movie grabbed at my heart strings, it made me laugh, too. The characters were excellent- Mrs. Claus reminded me of Mary Poppins but spunkier, and the daughter was very sweet & full of Christmas spirit. &Of course, the pups were adorable! I love how each pup had it’s own distinct personality & I also loved Eddy the elf dog {voiced by Richard Kind, who does a great job}.
&It was really cool to see a Christmas movie that focused on Mrs. Claus instead of Santa since that’s not exactly common!

&I also have some great free printables for you to do with your kids! These would be awesome to get them excited about the movie or to keep them from going crazy with boredom over Winter Break. Enjoy!!
Note: I received a copy of the Blu-ray to facilitate this review. All experiences are authentic & all opinions are my own.

Thanks Shell! I just printed a few activity sheets. I love the Santa Paws movies- so cute, but not “babyish” . My kids are all about “we aren’t babies mom” lately.
