We recently got an iPad, and Shane loves to use it. In fact, he probably uses it more than me! I don’t let him sit & use it all day, but I do actually encourage him to use it sometimes. We have lots of educational apps on there that not only keep him engaged and having fun but really teach him things in the meantime.
Recently, we were sent the Cypher Kids Club i3D Interactive Cards that take the educational app to a whole new level! They’re physical cards that have an image on the front and a code on the back. You can use the cards on their own as flash cards, or you can pair them with the #CypherKidsClub apps to make the cards come to life! We received the Letters, Numbers, and Wild Animal packs and while we love them all, Shane particularly likes the Wild Animal one since he has always been a huge animal lover {like his mommy!}.

When I first got the cards, I figured it would have to be an activity that we always did together. There were a few steps involved, so I figured Shane would have a hard time remembering how to do it. I was so, so wrong. I showed him ONE time how to do it & he remembered perfectly. While I still love using these together with him, he also uses them on his own. So how do they work?

1. Download the Cypher app that goes along with the cards that you own. You can find it in the App Store by searching “Cypher Entertainment” or you can scan the QR code on the box. &All of the apps are free!

2. Open the app & select “Exploration”.

3. Scroll through to find the card you want to play with.

4. Find the physical card that matches the card on the app and place it face-down {code side up}.

4. Place your iPad/iPhone over the code and it will come to life with augmented reality!
Each card teaches you multiple things- like the alphabet cards show an item that starts with that letter and demonstrates the sound the letter makes. The animal cards tell about the animal, whether that be it’s habitat, what it eats, etc. and tells what sound the animal makes! They are also interactive & the animals have ways that you can play with them.

Shane has been playing with these every single day since we got them. He loves finding out what will happen when he scans a new card. And he really, really likes pretending that we have giant animals on our heads.
These cards are compatible with iPhone 3GS and up, iPod Touch 3rd Gen and up, and iPad and you can find them exclusively at select Target stores. You can learn more about them on their website & follow them on Facebook and Twitter for updates!
