This post brought to you by Kmart. All opinions are 100% mine.
I have a tendency to do my holiday shopping last minute. It’s not that I’m a procrastinator {okay, I totally am} but rather it’s because I don’t really have anywhere to store a bunch of gifts in my home for months leading up to the big gift exchange. I tend to just window shop and then plan to come back & buy what I’ve chosen when it’s only a couple of weeks until Christmas. The problem is- those items aren’t always available that close to Christmas. In fact, last year almost everything I had planned to buy for Shane had disappeared from store shelves by December 1st, and didn’t stay back in stock until well after the New Year. That’s why this year, I’m probably going to be putting some things on layaway.

Whether you just can't afford to buy it all at once or you’re like me and don't have the storage space to keep the holiday gifts until the big day, stores like Kmart make holiday giving easier by offering a layaway program. So how exactly do you put things on layaway?
Start by going to your local Kmart store or Kmart.com. You can choose pretty much anything- clothing, home goods, toys, electronics, whatever your gift recipient is dreaming of. Then you just bring it to the layaway counter at the store or put it in your shopping cart online. If your purchase is more than $300, you’ll have the choice between an 8 week layaway and a 12 week layaway {if it’s under this amount, you’ll be set up with the 8 week plan}. There is usually a service fee of $5 for new contracts, but it will be waived from now until November 17, meaning Kmart has free layaway! When you set up your plan, you have to pay a deposit of $15 or 10%, whichever is greater, but that goes directly toward your purchase. Then you just make a payment every two weeks online or at any Kmart register and once you’ve made your final payment, you can go pick up your items or arrange pick up if you ordered them online!

Kmart is also the only store that offers layaway with no minimum purchase amount, an online layaway option, and the ability to put their full range of merchandise on layaway. They are also one of only two stores to offer the no service fee promotion and a variety of contract options. If you’re planning on putting your purchases on layaway this season, Kmart is definitely the right place to do so!

If you need an extra reason to put your items on layaway at Kmart, what about the chance to receive your items for free with Kmart's Big Layaway Giveaway? Every week from September 9th through November 17th, there will be one layaway giveaway per store per week. That's a whole lot of giving! I can’t even imagine how awesome it’d be to have my holiday shopping paid for- can you?

I’ve already started window shopping for Shane’s Christmas presents and love the large selection of toys at Kmart- they had 145 items just for Thomas the Train online! No matter who you’re shopping for, you’ll find something for them at Kmart!
What's on your holiday list this year?

Last Day!

Now if only we had a Kmart nearby, I’d be all over the layaway program!
