As you may know, last week I was treated to a sneak peek of the movie Beverly Hills Chihuahua 3: Viva La Fiesta! Well, the DVD premiered today on Disney Blu-Ray, DVD & Digital Download so I can finally share my thoughts on it!
About the Movie:
Everyone’s favorite talking Chihuahuas Papi (voice of George Lopez) and Chloe (voice of Odette Annable) are back, joined by their five playful pups in an all-new family comedy. It’s canine chaos as Papi’s family (dog and human) move into the posh Langham Hotel, complete with a luxurious doggy spa. But there’s trouble in puppy paradise when Rosa, the littlest member of the pack, feels smaller and less special than ever. Now it’s up to Papi to help Rosa find – and celebrate – her inner strength, which turns out to be bigger than she ever dreamed and reminds humans and canines alike of the importance of family, friends and teamwork.
First of all, I have to say that I’m a little biased. Any movie that involves a talking dog is an automatic winner in my book. So naturally, a movie that includes a whole family of talking dogs and their adorable friends is even better!

Really though, I did like this movie a lot. It had plenty of entertainment for kids, including a fun scene where Chloe plays the piano, a band of hilarious Mariachi dogs, and some good old fashioned slapstick comedy.
It also has a lot to offer adults. You’ll be laughing at the scene where they are auditioning bands like “Houndgarden” & “Bob Marley & Me” to play at Rosa’s quinceanera- see how many references you can find! It also had some themes that were relatable as a parent- like Papi’s struggles with letting his pups grow up when he wants to be the one to take care of them forever.
&Of course, the scenery is beautiful! Shot at the Langham Huntington in Pasadena, the hotel is pretty much a character of the film. Whether it’s the beautiful garden that Sam {one of the pup’s owners} is creating or the kitchen where Rachel {his wife, their other owner} works with a crazy chef, the hotel comes to life in the movie as well.
Shane loves the movie, too- he’s just like me with his love for talking dogs. He may not get a lot of the jokes yet but he really likes the movie anyway!
The movie came out today & to add to the excitement, don’t forget to download the activity sheets!
If you’re thinking about picking this movie up for the holidays {which I think is a great idea!} you should buy it now so you can use a $5 off coupon- but hurry, it expires 9/23!
Note: I received a copy of the movie to facilitate my review and was sent on a trip by Disney to cover the events. All experiences are authentic & all opinions are my own.
