This weekend was absolutely magical. On Saturday, we drove out to San Diego {my absolute favorite place that doesn’t have “Disney” in the name} & the day at Legoland. We stayed that night at a hotel & woke up the next morning & went to the beach. &While we were there- Justin proposed!

My ring- at least for now. It’s his Mom’s but it is just a placeholder until I pick out my own. Also, ignore the chipped nail polish- and yes, that’s sand all over my hand. This was right afterwards when we were just leaving the beach!
I know what you’re thinking- I was already engaged, why did he propose? &How do you get double-engaged?
Well, if you’ve ever seen the Sex & The City movie, you’ve seen how Justin & I got engaged {the first time}. You know how Carrie & Big are just kind of talking about how they should get married & just kind of decide to be engaged in a conversation? It was kind of like that. We had been together for four years already & had every intention of being together forever, so we decided to be engaged. There was no proposal, no ring, and no date. The wedding was “TBD” and when six months later I found out I was pregnant, it was put on hold to focus on more important things both mentally & financially.
So this weekend, we got “REALLY” engaged.
Apparently Justin had been planning to propose on our anniversary {we count our anniversary from our first kiss- September 6, 2004} but when we decided to take Shane to San Diego for his birthday, he decided to do it then. San Diego is OUR place- and the beach is my happy place, so it was perfect.
Sunday morning, Justin spent time looking up nearby beaches & trying to pick the perfect one. We ended up choosing Coronado because the reviews were great & we had been to one of the beaches in the area before & it was beautiful {although I’m pretty sure ALL beaches are..}. We walked down to the water &watched as Shane dipped his toes into the ocean for the first time. He absolutely loved it & kept wanting to go further in- he was up to his hips in the water before a big pile of seaweed finally made him want to go back.
As we were walking to the car to head to the San Diego Zoo, Justin looked back to the beach & told me that I should take a picture of the cliff. I got my camera out & took a picture {the one below} & when I turned back around to leave, he was standing there, holding the ring, and he said, “Will you marry me?”

I cried. Immediately. &Of course I said yes. &Hugged him and kissed him. I don’t remember what order I did that in or what else was said or done. It was a huge blur of emotion & excitement and it was just oh so perfect.
So now, instead of our wedding being on the backburner, it’s front & center as we are now planning & trying to pick a date and such. Be prepared for lots of wedding planning posts as that’s pretty much going to consume my life for the next few months!

6 Days Left

Sweet! My husband did the “real proposal” on our wedding day lol! We talked about it, decided on it and the date but, he never officially proposed. He surprised me on our wedding day with a “starter ring” like yours, and actually asked me. Congrats on your engagement.

Aww <3 Love you!
Yay for you!!!!! Have fun on your new adventure, Keith and I are so excited for you both!
Thank you!!! We’re excited for you guys too- I even joked to him that he was just following the trends since it seems like the whole BH crew is getting married!
Well, during the next stage…depending on what kind of wedding/reception you are planning for…let me know if there is anything I can help with. I’m relatively crafty, and I can only imagine that trying to balance life with a man with a toddler with a career with a wedding can be entirely stressful on minds and pockets. Plus, DIY stuff can lead to amazing feats of creativity and bonding time with Keith’s XBox bestie’s bride-to-be!
That sounds amazing- really! Once I have any idea of what I need to do I’ll take you up on that!
It’s a good thing you’re crafty because I am SO not. {But I really WANT to be!}
Congratulations!
