I’ve had many stages throughout my life that have come & gone, from my elementary school days to my high school days to my sorority days. While I’ve gained a few life-long friends from each of those stages, for the most part the friends that I’ve made have become distant {but still fond} memories.
It seems only fitting that with the newest stage of my life, motherhood, I find myself surrounded by new friends. If I’ve ever had a group of friends that I’d like to keep forever, though, it’s them. I don’t know if it’s just because we’re not 15 & catty little schoolgirls or if I just got really lucky & found some truly wonderful people to share this stage of my life with {I’m guessing it’s both}, but I don’t plan on giving these ladies up anytime soon.

As a group, they have been the most supportive, insightful, helpful friends I have ever had. {I’ve had a friend here & there who was like that too, just not a whole group- you know who you are!} We met in Gymboree classes, where we all took our kids as babies & tiny tots, so we come from different walks of life & have experienced all different things. We’re all different ages, but at the same stage in our lives as we are all parenting 2-3 year olds. They actually listen when you talk & remember what you say, and are quick to add insight but not judgement.

Not only have I become great friends with each of them, but Shane has grown up with their children. When he wakes up in the morning, he often asks if we’ll get to see his friends that day & lists them by name, asking if they can play. While I know he’s 3 and could easily find new friends, I like that he already has this sense of community and that he already enjoys the company of others.
So ladies- you’re totally stuck with us!
The first Sunday of August was declared as a holiday in the US in honor of friends by a Proclamation made by US Congress in 1935. Since then, World Friendship Day is being celebrated every year on the first Sunday in the month of August.
A group of blogging friends & I wanted to take time to celebrate the friends in our lives, but we knew one day wouldn’t be enough. So we decided to take this week, August 12-18th, to celebrate the friends in our life who mean so much to us!
Every day, several bloggers have been sharing their friendship stories {you can read all of the stories by checking the linkies at the host blog, Full Time Mama}. We’d love for you to join us! Link up your Celebrating Friendship posts below!

I probably should have added- we met THROUGH our kids. lol! They all went to Gymboree together as babies. But yes, it’s so nice to have a group of women going through the same things at the same time!
I just love seeing pictures of little ones holding hands!
I really like that picture too!
I love how friendships change and you meet new people. Recently I lost several “friends” and it was hard, but I think it is all a part of growing up and realizing that you lose friends and you make new friends. LOVE the pictures of the kidlets holding hands. So cute!
