Review & Giveaway: Tail Towns Friends

Does your Facebook notifications stream get filled daily with new game requests? It seems like every day, I have yet another friend asking me to play yet another new game- and I’m sure I’m not the only one.

Facebook gaming is the fastest growing genre of gaming in recent years- from 2010 to 2011, the percentage of people playing games several times per day grew from 36% to 44%, the amount of people playing over 10 hours on the weekend increased from 14% to 20%, and the number of “avid social game players” {those playing more than 6 hours per week} more than doubled from 7% to 15%! {2011 Popcap Games Social Gaming Research, September 2011}

Last year, Justin’s parents were really into Farmville- remember that game? It got pretty big for awhile but then kind of just fizzled out. I never really got into that game since it was just a lot of repetition with no real “story”- but there’s a new game around that combines a dramatic storyline with that same type of build-your-own-space fun called Tail Towns Friends that I have to admit, I find pretty fun. {In fact, I’m totally watching my clock as I type this because I have some watermelons that will harvest in 35 minutes so that I can finish a goal.}

This game is fun because instead of just planting crops for the sake of planting crops, you’re talking to people in town & finding out about the big evil corporation that’s taking over and putting out small businesses- until you help them stay open, that is. Then the owner of the Beautiful Homes Club challenges you to make your home look picture perfect & the chef wants you to prove your crops are good enough for his beloved & soon enough, you’re totally into the game. The photo-realistic graphics definitely help you get into it as does the ability to personalize your own piece of country as you’d like. &The game is free, so you don’t lose out if you don’t like it, either {we’ve had that happen with console games many times}.

Another bonus is that the game has “in real life” hand-painted figurines that you can buy & then register with the game to get the character’s storyline that gives you insight into their secret life in Tail Towns, and registering also rewards you with a super ornate specialty décor virtual item that provides daily rewards.
