Connect & Create with Kiwi Crate!

You may have noticed the recent emergence of the box of the month trend: you sign up for a subscription, and then once a month a box of surprise items arrives at your house. These services now exist for beauty items, foods, pretty much anything- including my favorite: kid’s activities.

When I taught at Gymboree, I was an art teacher for a few months. I loved helping little ones create & I saw first hand how beneficial it was for them. I’d love to duplicate the experience at home, but the problem is, I’m not very creative. When I was teaching, I was going off of a lesson plan. I find lots of ideas for things to do with Shane on Pinterest, but by the time I go out & buy all of the supplies I need, it’s cost me an arm & a leg and then I have a whole bag of pipe cleaners to store when I just needed two red ones.

Kiwi Crate, one of the above mentioned monthly subscription boxes, fixes both of those problems for me.

Big and little sets

We received two kits: the Space Hero kit, which included a Superhero cape, a comet, and a Superhero mask, and an individual kit, which included the “My Wings” activity.

Their large crates come with 2-3 activities centered around a theme, complete with instructions and even tips on how to extend the activity, like with a story or a few related facts.

&It comes with all of the supplies we’ll need to do the activity! For example, the Superhero Cape activity we received included the cape and the felt stickers to put on the cape. I didn’t have to buy a whole pack of felt in all different colors- it was all included. &For the My Wings activity {above}, I received two pieces of crepe paper, a giant pipe cleaner, more pre-cut felt, and elastic straps. Try buying any of that individually at the store!

Super hero mask
{Shane just wasn’t done decorating his mask, apparently!}

The activities are simple enough for Shane {just shy of 3 years old} to do with my help, but interesting enough that I can see a much older kid having fun doing them! The supplies were all of great quality, and the finished product was always adorable!

Kiwi Crate Superhero cape

The Space Hero kit let us make a superhero cape which Shane got to run around in & play pretend, make a “comet” which we played catch with, and create a super hero mask to go with the cape. The My Wings kit allowed us to make crepe paper wings, which allowed him to play pretend and also sparked his imagination when he was deciding what flying creature to be. With the My Wings activity, I also took the opportunity for a mini-lesson about butterflies & metamorphosis.

I love these kits because not only do they help Shane learn and allow him to create, but they give us something to do together. I am always looking for fun things for us to do together that will make memories &I know that every time he wears his cape, or throws his comet, he’ll think of when we made them together.

Kiwi Crate has several ways to enjoy what they have to offer: you can sign up for the monthly subscription, where you get one box shipped directly to your house every month for $19.95 {You can add on a sibling for $7.95 so that there’s enough to go around!}. You can also shop directly for gifts- you can choose from either the Space Hero or Fairy Fun kits for $19.95 each to gift for birthdays or holidays. Also for birthdays, you can purchase Party Packs, which make for great party favors or party activities! You have to buy 6 or more, but you can mix & match the kits and there are 6 options to choose from, starting at just $5 each! You can shop all of the options here.

What type of theme would you like to see in a Kiwi Crate?

Note: I received samples to facilitate this review. All experiences are authentic & all opinions are my own.
