The First Bite #NSNation

Have you ever really wanted to do something, but it was such a BIG something that you didn’t know where to begin? Maybe you wanted to write a novel, or organize a cluttered room, or something even bigger or more exciting? For me, that something is losing weight.

I was chubby growing up. Not fat, but definitely chubby. Then college hit- I worked full time at a computer desk {actually, the same one I work at again now}, sat in a classroom for 15 hours a week, and practically lived on fast food between classes. It was a pretty bad combo that brought me to my highest weight. January 3, 2009, I decided it was time to get serious & started looking into diet options, having tried & failed to “just eat healthy & exercise more”. January 4, 2009, I found out I was pregnant.

Losing weight took a back burner but I did start eating better. I took care of myself & my baby and gained only the “suggested” weight during my pregnancy. It took awhile, but I am currently five pounds less than I was when I got pregnant.

But that’s still not a great weight. &I’m fed up again. This time, though, I’m lucky enough to have Nutrisystem supporting me.

When I got the news that I was going to be a Nutrisystem Blogger, I was ecstatic. Finally, I could lose the weight & be healthier! But almost immediately afterwards, I freaked out. I want to lose fifty pounds. That’s a LOT. &It seems impossible.

But I just keep reminding myself of the old quote: “How do you eat an elephant? One bite at a time.” It really is exactly what I need to do. I am currently focusing on shifting my focus from the fifty pound goal to the every day goals- sticking to the meal plan, getting my exercise in, drinking enough water. If I hit my daily goals enough times, that ultimate goal will be within my reach in no time.

&If it starts to seem overwhelming again? There’s a whole community of support at Nutrisystem- from the large online community full of other people on the Nutrisystem diet to the free, 7-days-a-week counseling from Nutrisystem, I always have someone to turn to.

I got my big box of food today, so tomorrow I take my first bite- both literally & metaphorically. &Hopefully, before I know it, I’ll be the “After” instead of the “Before” and that poor elephant will have never seen it coming.

If you want to follow along on my weight loss journey, I’ll be posting my progress weekly so be sure to check back next week! Want to take this journey with me? Join today by calling 1-888-853-4689 or by visiting http://www.nutrisystem.com/nsblog!

Susie’s Note: Nutrisystem is providing me with their food in exchange for me blogging about my experience. All experiences are authentic & all opinions are my own.
